This is the problem we’re constantly on a knife edge, from July we have 5home games left so I’m afraid come October we will be in exactly the same place as last year with having to sell players because frankly we will not make enough money from July and that’s a big if that deal goes through July! Not looking good then is it

Paul king keeps talking about a commercial deal that’s worth a lot of money when the stadium deal is signed but refuses to name them to the deal is done surely if this deal was real we wouldn’t be so vulnerable as we would know it’s coming!the problem is for our club it’s proven we don’t get enough through the gate so to keep saying get family and friends to buy etc won’t keep us afloat as not enough do hence why you need good commercial deals it’s not rocket science! The deal is real👍

Well if it’s real why are we vulnerable?surely if you know it’s coming and it’s so big the council would help out till the deals signed and get money back then?!why not tell the council who the deal is with because as of yet they haven’t!

This is what gets me, this silence about the deal. Why the frig is this info about the situation not being shared with us more frequently. Since the " oh it will be done by March" announcement, we've heard bugger all. It constantly feels like we have to pull the infor rather than it being pushed and shared eith us
We are walking into another fire sale now and rather than being open about it and reaching out for support from fans and local businesses its all feels a bit in house. I am praying we budgeted better than we did last year as whoever signed that off needs sacking.
Come on Salford, you need to reach out to us more, we want to help !!!

I’ve explained ‘why’ earlier in the thread and PK made the point tonight again. The club are just bystanders in this stadium deal as it is not a deal that we have a say in or can control. I promise you that PK and other members of the then CBS board have lobbied the council tirelessly about the importance of getting this over the line. PK can’t update anything if there’s no update to update on! What’s he meant to do, post a note on X with “there’s no new news this week everyone”? Peel is a strange organisation and they are tight as a duck’s arse when it comes getting the best deal for themselves. Having said that The Council have allowed Peel to have full control of an asset that the council owned 50% of and so they’re playing catch up to remedy 11 years of mismanagement of their asset.

Any talks or teases on recruiting for next year all very quiet which can be a good thing! But I think we’re the only club I’ve not heard incomings for 😂

Yes LHR, quite right…..the ‘ not enough coming thro the gates’ is becoming an excuse not a reason…the responsibility taken on by the Board is to g3nerate the commercial income to keep the Club afloat and not rely on subsidy or others

As per Pete's (S1963) updates, the commercial deal/s the club are waiting on are dependant on the stadium being signed off. No point in PK announcing who is involved as all it does is drive more speculation and could lead to people potentially causing problems and throwing spanners in the works.
As for players, the club have them lined up for next season but again the stadium situation needs sorting before they can be announced. In the meantime let's just keep getting behind the lads and try to get as many bodies through the doors as we can for the remaining home games! I've got 10+ coming to the Saints game in June and will try and bring another 3 or 4 newbies if I can before the end of the season.
Out of interest how many folk off here went to the meeting tonight? Just me and Pete?

I couldn’t due to work it’s hard for me when things are done during the week Can someone who went to the meeting just explain what was said or like a bullet point of what was said if it’s possible I'll give it a go when I'm out of bed with a strong coffee... Ok strong coffee in hand so here goes... Basically last night was mainly to go through the following; - Election of new CBS Board (agreed as the 7 folk that stood for election) - Removal of old Red Devils Holdings board including Paul King (all stepped down bar Secretary Andrew Rosler) - Acceptance of RD Holdings accounts for last year (agreed) - Approval of new name for the CBS (Salford Reds Arising was the slight favourite in the initial poll but it was agreed that the top 3 chosen would be sent back out to members for a final vote) Paul Trainor then gave an update re: the elite academy and a few thank you's to all involved in making it happen. It really is huge for the long-term future of the club. Then Paul King did a bit of a Q&A. I think the main things highlighted were; (and Pete please add or put me right on any of these!) - Income: We need as many bodies through the gates as possible for the remainder of the season as we are literally living hand to mouth until the stadium deal is finalised (looking like July). As Pete said Peel appear to be trying to bleed every last penny out of the deal before it's done but council are keen to get it over the line. - Squad: Paul King said we've got the best centre partnership in the league and this will remain the case next season (read into that what you will!😁). Players are agreed for next season but obviously can't finalise/announce until stadium is over the line. - Match days: Club have asked to play home games on Friday night next season as can tap into corporate hospitality more on Fridays and crowd wise there is minimal difference between Fri & Sun. I queried Saturday games this season and clashes with other football etc. PK said they're mainly down to TV & scheduling issues with turnaround time for players. - Supporters Trust: Shirley Bradshaw asked Paul what he wanted from the trust moving forward. He confirmed that they should solely be responsible for player pathway so all money raised will go towards the academy. On a side note, the ST are organising a Race Day at Tiger Moth in Irlam in July and a Motown/Soul night in Bluebell in Monton in August. I'll post dates in the ST thread once I've got them. Would be good to see a few people down there supporting the events.👍 Right my sketchy memory has run out... Pete, what have I missed?😊
