Our current ability to finish games with about twice as many stupid penalties as the opposition, coupled with poor unforced errors, brings a few questions to my mind...
I realise that injuries have caused the expected havoc to our systems, and I also realise that we simply don't have the personnel to ride out wobbly patches during the season. But surely some responsibility lies with the coaching staff, because if they are trying to stop the negative aspects of our play it isn't showing. To me, if PR and Co. are simply allowing the players the freedom to play themselves out of trouble rather than address the issue of penalty count specifically then it isn't working and we need a rethink. Either way, it's either not working from a coaching perspective or it's the wrong call at this moment in time. I'm no coach but a different approach is needed as nothing has changed for a couple of months. It's infuriating as a fan, because if us dullards can see it every week it makes me wonder about the processes in place to sort a problem out.
If we cut out half the penalties we give, and stop trying to be the Harlem globetrotters on every tackle at least half the time, we'd have won a fair few more games, and won by considerable margins on those games that we won by a score or two.
This feels too much like old Salford from the last thirty years, and I'm not keen on going back there to be honest...

Well you should be delighted Kruzer. Then I read your post again - Thought you said 30 Virgins! Unfortunately, not The Vegans are from the Lancaster area So probably not. I have cheese & Ham toastie on order. So if easyjet manages to have it on board and has it assigned to my seat, I'll eat it slowly, There's also a few London Broncos supporters on board, They see.m to be delighted after winning 12-6 @ Swinton Banter suggests "They weren't at their best" Not Swinton played better than they expected.

I was annoyed leaving the ground for the first time in a long time. Congratulations to Leigh who look a good team and might beat Saints next week.
However when leading 22- 10 we should be capable of managing the game. Our discipline was dreadful and we gifted them so much territory that in the second half they didn't have to work to bring the ball away from their line.

This feels too much like old Salford from the last thirty years, and I'm not keen on going back there to be honest... Think this was also highlighted in Leeds game, OK we all agree officiating was awful, but what was the two teams response. Leeds managed game and pushed it as far as they could (some would say to far no doubt), our response, to moan, gesticulate and in general just get more penalties awarded against us. You can benefit from poor officiating if handled right. We need to manage game a lot smarter, not just the officiating, but time and field position to. We run when we should walk, and walk when we should run. We lack composure, and given the experienced heads we have that is frustrating for fans. We also seem to lack some of the belief we had last year, which leads to indiscipline, frustration and then penalties. Don't mean we need to go back all the way to basics but a certain amount of regrouping and composure would not go amiss.

The second try was not only grounded short but in touch, however, as others have said we lost that ourselves.

I'm flabbergasted. A real number of you on here seem to have forgotten the highs and entertainment our club / recent squads have provided over the last 5 years. Ok, things aren't going our way at present, but for goodness sakes, can we not just appreciate that as a small club, with few fans and not much money, we are actually doing very well ? We could be Wakefield or Cas couldn't we ??

Ok, things aren't going our way at present, but for goodness sakes, can we not just appreciate that as a small club, with few fans and not much money, we are actually doing very well ? We could be Wakefield or Cas couldn't we ?? I think you need to remember that people on here are being critical of the things that can be changed, not the team. Nobody is saying that the players individually are to blame. The team needs either guidance to stop it doing the things that are crippling it. Those unforced errors and ridiculous penalty counts spring to mind. The team has had a great first half to the season, and it shows how good we really can be. The test of top end of the table sides is their ability to ride out those difficult times that all teams get. We're not playing badly, but we're not playing smartly and that can be changed. People on here are quite fair I think. Nobody is singling anyone out, nobody is calling for heads to roll, we're all realists. I think we're just frustrated, as the team will be, about basic things that can be sorted but for whatever reason we seem to be unable to change. My post previously on it was more to do with the 'whys' and nothing to do with the 'whos'. We are a small club punching above our weight. It's been a magical time in the last few years and nobody is having meltdowns at our current dip in form. We're just passionate and want the best for those lads. There's nothing wrong with a little criticism if directed appropriately.

Two v odd tries for Leigh BUT we have the highest penalty count against us in the League and yet again ill discipline cost us the match Amazing how Leigh forwards play together, their 13 brilliant…we need to get on that track, c.newsnow.co.uk/A/1188628189?-44757:315362 nd dubious try was ok, can’t make out the 1st

I don't know which item on here amazes me the most : the acceptance of imbalanced penalty counts, a loss because of an incorrect decision or the fact that a discussion nearly broke out!
We do have a competitive side which is something we've always longed for above, more or less, anything else but maybe now we have one we've become dissatisfied already.

Well another week and another loss. Leigh are not anything special based on yesterdays performance. Thaler was shocking, Leigh were 2-3 yards offside on most sets, held back Burgess on Lafai's break (Sin Bin), Ref did not award a perfectly good try and choose to penalise us rather than them, Leigh went high too and at times we're dirty.
I cannot fault the effort and commitment of the team it was decent and we were unfortunate to lose much like last week.
Rowley's team selections mystify me - why on earth put Aitken at 13 (He's too small to be a forward). We had Greenwood and Longstaff fit but not in the 17. Like last week with Costello on the bench and not being used he makes some bizarre decisions which in recent weeks have not paid off. I know this forum is at times a Rowley fan page, I think he is sometimes misguided in thinking we can run around teams, there is nothing wrong with being steady and earning the right to play which it seems we cannot do these days however have done it earlier in the season.
As I have said for a while we need more forward options either on loan or a signing, a few on here now seem to agree with this. If the club have raised (365k) and then had 3 x positive gates and we cannot afford at least one loan signing its not great (Maybe LH Red knows more on this, cashflow etc).
I do not think we will be top 6 now, I'd suggest we will pickup a few wins but teams around us are playing better Rugby so we need results to go our way.

MTR I don’t think Greenwood match fit yet Bench was Sidlow Burrough Helliwell King I think with Costello 18th man, but I agree Atkins should be bench and starting later
We have lost our first picks for 2nd row Wright Watkins Dixon and two first picks for loose forward Partington and Gerrard…Addy awful , giving away lots of pens and Stone out on his feet
Thaler first dubious try given by TJ, second was a try…reffing was ok for me…without video support will always be hard
BUT we have by far the highest pen count in the League and ill discipline like that will cost us any game…like soccer players as well constant arguing with the ref..out of order
Money, keep hearing we’ve have/had big debts (didn’t we have an £300k loan from the Council) and now have little spare…as usual we’re.a survival Club. As for Rowley I thought we’d get pasted yesterday with so many forwards missing, but we led 22-10 and stupidity with ill luck led to our downfall
