Great kicking performance from Harry Smith last night: Early kicks into the corner to turn their FB and W in poor conditions. Early kick for a 40/20 just as Warrington were putting in a good defensive set. Varied kicking game from within their 20/30 ; some high, quite a few along the ground. Won some repeat sets Early DG, which I really liked. I don't understand why teams don't do this more. My thought has always been, if you are 6/12 points up and get a penalty in front of the sticks the mentality is to kick the two points to make is a 2/3 score game. A drop goal does the same. If you are 15/20m out, kick the DG, stretch the lead to an extra score, get the ball back. It's likely an easy kick too given they won't expect it or pressure you. That's what we need if we're to win something. Sneyd is more than capable. I can’t believe how people fall for the bilge spouted out by commentators. They have been trying to champion the Oldham born lad who plays half back and takes goal kicks for Huddersfield,Oliver Russell. I see a decent enough player and an average goal kicker. The real gem is young Pryce, who should turn up trumps for England RL. Now it seems Harry Smith is on the agenda as a world beater. In my opinion he is an adequate half playing last night in front of a top Wigan pack. Please let’s make our own decisions on players and not listen to some of tripe spouted by the pundits who quite often have their own agendas for “pushing “ certain players.

Just watched the recording of the match…must say our scrambling defence on/near the line won us the match…brilliant
But we have to stop that easy winger try early on….had 3 the same 2x Leigh now Cas…2nd row/ half back/ centre /winger/ Brierley need to get it sorted…too predictable

Who said he was a world-beater? I said he displayed an excellent kicking game last night, which he did. I've also pointed out how terrible our kicking game has been, which it has. Is Harry Smith a world-beater, no. He's a decent half, with a good kicking game and a below-average goalkicker. Fact remains, his kicking games last night won Wigan territory and was far superior to the garbage we've been serving up on last tackle. Paul Rowley said aafter half time and again after the game that our last tackle plays were very poor. Agree on Olly Russel,I don't see anything special there. Pryce looks to have plenty of talent, it'll be interesting to see where and if he plays for Newcastle. Miller has gone well at FB for them and they have Ponga and Hastings in the halves.

Sneyd on Evalds too... though I think he scores that in dry conditions. There was lots of space on that right edge both outside of Sio, because we rush in, and in behind, again because we rush up and in, often when we don't need to. With that try, if Cross stays back, Sio stays back, they don't run past the ball and we stop the try. Without Lafai we also seem to be letter more half breaks happen on the left edge.
