Wane has picked the crocked Tomkins as Captain and for his experience…he won’t probably last the match against Samoa tho and certainly won’t last the tournament
Welsby isnt a stand off but will probably start there
I’d play McIlorum for the first 20 and the first 10 of the second half. He can take all the aggression, the hard knocks early on and then let Ackers come on and play the rugby. The first 20 against Samoa will be tough and why wear Ackers out? Watkins will start at Centre.

When it was announced that Wane was coach I was glad because of all the insistence on form.
Tomkins has been a great player but on form even his Mam wouldn't be absolutely certain.

Welsby is too good to miss out. Personally I'd have him at FB now and for the future. But we know Tomkins is playing so I'd start Welsby with Sneyd. We are going to need a good kicking game against Samoa and in Wayne's own words, Sneyd has the best kicking game in the league, so Williams really should miss out. I can see a scenario where Welsby is picked at centre.

Squad numbers are out
Watkins number 3 Sneyd 21 (Welsby 6 / Williams 7) Ackers 19 (McIllorum 9)
I suspect that’s an indicator of Wane’s intentions and would be no surprise if he started with 1-13 but not set in stone of course
Hall has number 5 and Young 14 is one I wonder about

So no Ackers against Samoa which is an absolute farce with Mcllorum in the squad (unless there's an injury to AA we're not aware of).
Welsby has to play, simples. For me it would be Welsby, Williams, Sneyd, Ackers at 1/6/7/9. Instead it's likely Tomkins will start with Sneyd missing out based on Wane's decision to go with Mcllorum.
Glad he's seen sense with Hall though and dropped him. Should never have made the squad in the first place and Budgie would've provided far better cover across the backline.

Although, I'l be watching Carcassonne, I really hope England win and well. It will be a real statement of intent and aims. I also hope he's keeping Ackers and Sneyd for later on in the tournament. If not he might as well let them go on holiday so they're ready for pre-season at the really important place.

Great team performance. I still don't understand not picking Ackers. MM wasn't going to play 80 mins and Radley has been used as a backup hooker while we have 3 props and Knowles, who can play prop, on the bench. For me, Ackers instead of either Hill or Cooper would have made more sense.

Good performance from all 17 players. Agree with Wane, or not, they delivered for him

Great performance and good reffing. Backs superb and pack more than held their own.Samoa not at the races
Thought McCillorum did too many minutes ….goosed after 20, not a break from dummy half and Cooper gasping a lot; Oledzky must come in for him

Oz look full of energy, remind me of a team in red that play at the AJ. McCillorum and Cooper will really be found out against them

Brierley well out of position for that kick and didn't put his body on the line. He could have dived at that. Quite impressed with Italy's start, they've made a few half breaks.
