The coach clearly either has a problem with him or doesn't rate him.This is a problem.We are weakening the team because we aren't playing our only fullback and then aying our best centre out of position.I fear the coach may be creating and early problem for himself.

Yeah it’s a strange one. You’d have thought the backline picks itself but seems Marshall must be seeing something we’re all not seeing. I’ve always been impressed with Escaré and would have thought he would be a shoe in for the full back position. I love Sarge but he is not a full back, for me he’s a centre. Also Escaré has some real pace which I feel we lacked last week.
I suppose we’ll have to wait and see, obviously Marshall is the one who sees them out on the training pitch and so he must feel Sarge is the better option atm.

Sarge played FB against Saints apparently because Marshall sees him as a better defensive FB than Escare... which, let's be honest, is generally what you'd need against a team as dominant as Saints.
Let's see what happens over the next 3 or 4 games before we make a judgment.

As I have said previously on this forum, I watch Catalans quite often when I am in Perpignan. Escare is quick and a good support player but his defence is very poor. There must be a reason why Catalans and Wigan ditched him,and maybe why we are not playing him. Perhaps Costello will get his chance tomorrow. |

The coach has obviously seen a flaw and I think this is his first real test.The Height knows far about Escaré than I do,but the key to our recent success has been more connected with Evalds attack than defence. He was good at both but we signed Escaré to be hitting the line,not tackling Walmsley.
As far as I can remember he was ok with the high ball.
He’s also given himself a complication in that Sarge now wants to stay full back.
The real choice isn’t between Sarginson and Escaré,it’s between Escaré and Kear,or whoever plays in the centre because that’s where another weakness has been created.
It’s Escaré or Costello at full back for me

As him and sarg played a lot more together than kear did so there’s possibly less communication there in defence. If it’s the same back line as last week then I’d let it slide but if it’s similar performance wise then changes will definitely need to be made |

Having watched the full pre-match interviews, Marshall said that Escare will get plenty of opportunity. So, while it may be that RM likes Sarge at FB for the moment I'm sure Escare will get a good run at cementing that spot.

That may be true,Carnster,but I’d say it’s slightly concerning that Marshall doesn’t appear to agree with our view that Sarge isn’t a full back and it weakens the centre. He’ll come to realise he’s wrong and this forum is always bang on.🥴🥴 (being ironic)
So,it’ll be those 2 big Hull centres running at Kear. I’ve said before I like Kear but horses for courses.

I did not say anyone was wrong and only wrote my thoughts on his history. Catalans are notorious for letting french talent go. And Wigan had two other choices for fullback while he was there that suited their style better.
I do wonder where Escare will end up next?

Either play him or move him on but,for heavens sake,give him a game. Remember,also,that this is about who plays centre,as much as who plays full back |

Or that he might have picked up a niggle in training and hence why he isn't in the squad. Love a bit of hyperbole and rumour though  hopefully kear and Sarge change positions this week. |

Strange that he's not even in the squad though. You would have thought he'd be in there in front of Costello in case one of the three quarters has to pull out pre-match.
