Seeing that's all we will be doing this New year's eve Mine would be a few pints on Cross Lane, home for a Potato pie supper then Swinton on New year's day. Anyway what ever you do stay safe God bless, and a happy new year to you all.

Mine would be for just one pint of Holts or (preferably) a pint of 1973 Boddies. 2021: the way is up.

I have memories of being at a few of them. Used to stand with the Leeds fans as we used to get a lift over with a Leeds fan. Was always a laugh, and the crowd always smelled of alcohol and cigars.

Went out the back door with my dad, half bottle of whisky and a lump of coal. Waited for the ship’s sirens to sound on the Docks, chatted to others who were out, and then went back in through the front door. Mum had a snowball.

This is the last time I'm here for this year.
The Trafford, the Ship & the Willows ....
after that trying to remember how I spent New Year apart from following a girl I fancied along a line of NY kisses and faling in love with someone else's wife.
If you were there don't tell her husband.

We did much the same, but we also took a mince pie or piece of Xmas cake with us so we guaranteed we had something to eat, something to drink and something to keep us warm during the new year. After they banned coal, dad used to take a paid gas bill with him. It was a practical alternative but it lacked the charm of a lump of the black stuff. By the way, we could hear the ship's horns clearly from where we lived in Blackley. Happy days. Long gone.

This reminded me of Lizzie Fiddler's off - licence and taking your jug to get filled and Burgon's ice-cream talking about long gone.

Do I remember rightly that we played Blackpool Borough at home one Boxing Day or New Year's Day and it was our first ever game on a Sunday and the Sunday Trading laws at the time stated that the club couldn't charge for entrance and so they let you in for 'free' and your turnstile money was for the Club Christmas card they gave you on entering? Pardon me, if this is miles off. HNY!
