I know it's completely Off topic. I'm just replying to Carnster's post above and Russ' many and various political views about anything from Corbyn to the theory of evolution all on a board supposedly about Rugby League. I studied with the Jehovahs' witnesses. They showed me that Isaiah writing about 2600 years ago said the world is round some scholars in the middle ages thought it was still flat. Also about this time Job was writing about the hydrological cycle as late as the 18th century the ancient Greek belief that the water in the River Irwell was sourced from underground oceans still held sway. He also said the earth was suspended in space supported by nothing another religion at the time said it was held up by three giant elephants. I don't have a strong opinion on scrums but I do think the earth is round and the rain is not 'new' water. By the way Russ people only vote Conservatine in England because the alternative is Labour! Could we avoid all References to What the Shape of the world is or what different opinions of what people may think it is or isn't. Because there's a bit of unfortunate history on this Forum with that Viewpoint.

Who'd've thought a quote from an old kick & clap toady and a discussion about the virtues of scrums would divide SRD fans so easily.

Many moons ago Greenwood was an England RU player from Orrell referred to Rugby League as a simple game for simple minds. I have never forgotten that insult. Last night never has that insult been nearer the truth. We must not continue with no scrums and six again. As stated elsewhere we were watching glorified sevens with little structure to the game and players and officials running down the shock? Clock to take a breather. As Sadler from League Express said Faster is not better. Any views? Oh yes, plenty of views ! Good banter 😂😂😂

Yes but scrums are different in Union as you have scrum players and non-scrum players. Even in mauls and rucks, the backs are supposed to be out for "broken play". What we have is the nearest 6 form the scrum, the scrum half is marked by a forward and the attacking team usually has ("by accident") two fast forwards running out wide. If only designated forwards were in the scrums, and no ball behind the second rowers legs, maybe the scrum would remove the bigger players for a tackle or two. At the moment it is not.

And if you look at the NZ RU game North v South it's even better And they have competitive srummaging, so I'm not sure why no scrums in RL bothers you or why you don't just watch RU?

I'm gonna lock this thread as it's been done to death now and I can see it going rapidly downhill.
