Thought Lannon and Johnson were both value for money the other day.
Both put so much in and overstepped the mark because of it.
I see the six again rule has divided RL into two armed sides again, scrums or not!
I think I blame journos and pundits for making this an issue so few games into this new way.

Will be forgotten in a few months. People in general don't like change and RL fans don't like change with a vengeance, but it'll fade with time.

I’m normally all for change and innovation but even I am unconvinced about losing scrums. People said that teams rarely score from scrums or win against the head but since then I’ve seen multiple tries scored direct and two scrums won against the head in the NRL. If they do bring them back I’d like to see them tidied up though and the rules actually enforced.

I know some will turn their nose up, but I always enjoyed watching Baynes who had a decent offload game. Wasn’t always pretty but was usually entertaining. If he was still playing today I think this 6 again rule would have killed him - not the fittest. I was always a big fan of Neil Barker’s annual “Baynes has stayed out of Greggs — honest” pre-season article.

RL fans are BOFs whatever their age!

In truth though they've never been tidier, less of an issue or less rule ridden than they are right now.
Even so any change that makes us look even less like Yawn has to be a good one.
I was sceptical when I first heard this because I saw scrums as a way of changing the defensive/attack set ups when restarting the game. The six again has proven how wrong I was I'm afraid.

It’s such early days so any change should be purely on a trial basis. It also has to be done in conjunction with the Aussies. Different rules between us would be complete bollocks

Scrums: almost every Union pundit immediately tells me our scrums are a farce. Unlike "Crouch … Touch … Set (or Crouch … Bind … Scrum) … Penalty!"

I think you're all forgetting TGG srums like what they used to be push before you arrive there, biff, lose the ball, biff, kick a few shins punch the hooker, break up before the ball comes out, biff penalty ...... biff.
They're a sad loss for those who prefer a much slower but far more violent game and wear rose coloured glasses.
And I liked the biff!

If I wanted to watch scrums and set pieces then I'd be watching Union. Whether they go permanently or stay, they will eventually disappear because they are just a throwback in our game. They're ugly, pointless, and baffling to outside viewers.

I do see the point of them, although they’re a pain, which is why I think we need to make sure we don’t deviate from what the Aussies eventually do. A sport the size of ours needs consistency between continents. They do allow a variation on restart which you lose if you get rid. Extended trial ,yes, but agree way forward with Aussies. If there’s disagreement, leave well alone

The best ball playing forward I have seen in a Salford shirt was Johnny Ward.

The best ball playing forward I have seen in a Salford shirt was Johnny Ward. Certainly when he was at Cas but,for me,Terry Ogden was of more value to Salford
