Note of caution to the light ,mobile pack principle last promoted by Karl Harrison. Yes,of course the new 6 again rule requires it but if the Australian experience shows us anything it’s that you need a strike prop. I’d be reluctant to replace Pauli until we’ve experimented once. We can’t let the big Hull pack batter us,or we’ll be out of steam.

I wonder if Inu might be a good option as he has a bit of size and pace.
You need a good kicking game, watching the NRL headlines there's a much higher number of tries of the back of kicks now.
I personally think Evalds (if his head hasn't gone to Cas already) will be untouchable with this 6 again rule change.

No Brown, Roberts or Ackers. Escare might play as a ‘trialist’

Bugger. Gonna be a hard game this without some key players. Wonder if we'll see Escare start in the halves?

Much as I am not a fan of Mr Beige he is this years #7 and with the way the game has been transformed into a non stop affair can't see how we can win without him and Tui pulling the strings.
Escare is good but he is a fullback not a SL quality halve.
Wonder if Atkin might get his chance? Do hope it's not going to be Jones.
Am I missing something but Roberts? Who he?

Shows how long it's been I'd forgotten we'd taken him from Hudds.
Pity he's the type of big minutes forward who would have thrived in this crazy new world.

Brown not playing is a blow. We’ve been a much better team throughout the friendlies and the early games with him in it. I guess it will be Tui and Atkin. They’re both good runners so may be able to exploit the big hull team if the game opens up 🤞
However I think this ‘smaller lighter pack’ thing is a bit of a red herring. You need mobility and fitness but you need size to win the ruck. If you’re being dumped on your back you won’t gonna get many decisions for holding. If your forwards are ‘winning the contact’ and landing on their fronts then the defenders have to put a hand on the ball or lie on to give the team a chance to rest the defence. That’s when you get the 6 again or you get quick play the balls against a retreating defence if they don’t do that.
I worry about the 6 again because I reckon we give away more penalties for holding than we win. But our fitness levels are (normally) really high so that will be good for us. Watto says it will suit us and we win more high tempo games than we lose so on balance I defo trust Watto more than what I think I’ve spotted 😊

Completely forgot about Atkin really. Another good chance for him again to show what he can do think the pace will suit his style of play hopefully can start to cement his place. Unless they want to spell him at 9 with Lussick and play Escare at hb where he's played here and there.

Who is actually in charge at Hull? To the best of my knowledge they haven't appointed a new head coach yet, might work for them and whoever is in charge wants to make a name for himself.
Watson is a shrewd coach though and I'm sure he will have worked on getting the maximum number of penalties from the new 6 again rules. Hope it plays into Joeys strengths as he seemed to have been 'found out' after last years revelations.

Watson confirmed in the presser that Niall has been training at 6 as well. A few interesting potential combinations

Watson confirmed in the presser that Niall has been training at 6 as well. A few interesting potential combinations Trouble with that is that Tui is not an organiser, that is why he foundered at Leeds and instantly flourished playing along he who shall not be named. Play him at 7 and he'll regress.
