I want you to know I've saved several of these in my Bonita file
Pissed myself. Well produced. Salford City Council only realise a loss if they sell it. Currently in the books at £25 million including loans,or thereabouts. Selling pies and beer, even the odd concert, wouldn’t make a dent on the Interest alone. I have no problem with the business case for playing in a municipal stadium.

Unless the winning bid is £12.50 and a bag of nuts, I concur - not a hope in hell. I'm sure they said something like that's about Salford Docks. Then they made the opportunity. But it does take balls.

But it does take balls. It takes money or at least the ability to make some in the future. We barely have enough money to put out a competitive Super League team and hardly any rugby league teams make any money. Come on let’s be realistic here, unless we suddenly unearth multiple millions or someone with money to burn decides they want to buy the stadium and the team, it is never going to happen.

Fingers crossed we can hold the council to ransom to get the rent down or at least take some profit from advertising or food sales etc. If i was a betting man I wouldn't be surprised to see Salford FC move in which in hindsight would be actually very good.

It's only a problem for us if the stadium owners say enough is enough and the new owners don't want us as tenants. I don't see Sale making the sort of massive investment that a new build would cost. Would be a shame as I remember playing Trafford Borough there and it was a wonderful track. Was the Game @ Trafford Borough in the late 80s early 90s? And I think Darren Brown later of the Reds was playing for them Around that time the only way of Finding out the Away fixtures results was for me going to the WH Smith on Bayswater Road in that London and have a look at the results in the Either the Guardian or Mirror ,We take for granted the Internet and Social medias thesedays. There were a few Salford players who I only knew from Game results Wayne Reid & John Gilfillian and players of that team.

If Salford City did move in they wouldn't be as much damage to the pitch as there is with Sale and there never ending Scrums. Which is why the pitch is being Relayed all through July.

God it's that long ago my memory is in sepia.
Do remember Darren Brown having something to do with them though.
Of on a tangent but remember the last team I played for in Little Hulton playing a friendly over Wigan way pre season and they had these young Aussie brothers players trailing who were not just head and shoulders but on a whole different planet, the same season as I faced big Brendan Hill.
Fook I was bruised after that.

Brenda Hill playing for Wigan !! I reckon the Pie shops were working overtime. Salford were interested in him I remember Kevin Ashcroft doing a commentary for Piccadilly Radio He said of Hill that even with his knackered knees he could still move quicker than him.

No it was a team over the far side of Rochdale, he was like a slow moving iceberg but was made of granite.

Just a bit of a joke to lighten the mood Bonita; the reality is all too stark and I doubt anyone needs reminding of it. Judging by the economic depression that's about to engulf everyone, even city councils it may be going for a song soon.

Saddleworth Rangers Was it? 19 of My 37 match Amateur RL career was with them. Whenever in the middle of winter when I get a Cold blast from the freezing Baltics down my Straße I always remind myself of Saddleworth V Millom home and away and suddenly feel as warm as on a August day.

The way I see it is it’s an opportunity, if the stadium was available we’d be a much more attractive proposition for anyone with money to invest. It’s what stopped us progressing under Marwan (amongst other things). As it stands I agree no chance of us getting the stadium, but if it were to become available I’d hope it gives us a chance.
