Judging on the figures I've read about the actual rent for the stadium on game day, the training facilities and the office space is the biggest bone of contention for the Doc, based on this if Sale and Salford came under one umbrella who owned the stadium and facilities there is a huge save.
So both teams save on rental costs, the save on not needing the duplication of certain staff and infrastructure and then there is the income on game day, parking charges, conference/party/wedding/funeral use and I'm sure other new ideas.

Something important did just strike me.
If as is highly likely we finished in the MPG with the home draw as it currently stands we have no home ground to use as there is a pre arranged Sale fixture. Now obviously home advantage in this is vital so if the new prospective owners are also involved with Sale and fully understand the benefit to them of us remaining in Super League is there any scope for Sales game to be played on the Friday night or Sunday leaving us with the home field advantage?

Isn't Sales game on BT that's why they cannot change it?

Sale's match is on Sky at the same time as the MPG.

That's fair enough, but you have to remember that if Sale buy out our Club their main interest is still going to be Sale. I think people may be a little naive to think that if this happens we'll have equal sitting with Sale. The Salford Sharks may just end up being a feeder for their main interests. I can't really think of many positives that the playing side of Salford can take from Sale. Kicking coaching maybe, but Salford could just hire a kicking coach from RU at any time so that's not much of a positive. While it'd be nice to have some security going forward, I'm uneasy at where Sale's ultimate intention lies.

There is a natural distrust between the two sports based upon history and present day activities of ru in many countries. If you like both it may be possible to ignore what's gone on but there will always be questions about the motives of ru towards RL. We are their keen market rival whether they/we like it or not! So they could never have our best interests at heart, that's our job. There are enough people in RL who can't see this, or don't want to see it. There's a model of of a forum where if you talk about union v TGG you're exiled to a place where that sort of bad behaviour and comments "deserve" to be. A geriatric dinosaur solution to a trivial problem in my book. I wonder if yawnists are prevented from being disparaging about RL in this way on any of their forums? That's a rhetorical question by the way!

All the above is fair comment. This is a game of opinions and I don't share your pessimism. We need deep pockets and ,if that comes from Mr Orange, then so be it. He's a successful businessman first, and a Union supporter second,as I understand it. Paranoia is inevitable but the one single thing this guy ain't going to do is to take on the debt, buy us and then crap on us. Makes no sense, dinnit?

QED Bonita.
I have a brilliant business strategy, let's buy a team on the edge of oblivion with no huge assets and then strip it of what little assets it has and do it just because we have a grudge against rugby league.
If they buy Salford and want to become more of a rugby franchise I'll accept that vision until they give me a reason to distrust them.

Obviously this is all hypothetical, but you're right - if Sale wanted us out of the way then they could just sit and watch it happen in the next few weeks. What assets do we even have to strip? A couple of mugs and a stapler maybe. I'm not for an instant saying that the Union lot are a thoroughly upright bunch who only want the best for Rugby League, but the buying us to run us down line just doesn't make sense.

My point all along why would they buy SRD? I think this is a piece of huge wishful thinking rather than facing the mire we're in when Doc leaves! But no good has ever come from links with yawn that I've ever seen but I have seen it rumoured that it happens by yoonion trolls on LoveRL! And we all no what a reliable source they are.

And I quote:
"Nosy Parker says Orange has a good relationship with Moran through his brother and wants to have a go at owning a rugby league club."
Well if Dave Nosey Parker says it, we must be a shoe in to be bought by someone very wealthy with a hankering for some ReaL rugby!

Hey! Why not a RU takeover? We've had a pantomime villain in charge of the North west's biggest circus for the last three years.
It can't get any worse than the last few seasons, surely?
Joking aside, it's not like we'll have any say in anything. If it happens it happens. I've not actually seen any concrete evidence that it will just yet, but if it happens then I'll embrace it even if I am skeptical at this moment in time.

I hope that if we are going to be taken over that we get someone who has a background in Rugby League, or some form of sports team ownership. I think that has ultimately been MK's downfall.

If he has a "downfall" which is a bit leading and subjective, it's not realising what a money pit all this is and/or thinking RL folk were welcoming and inclusive An RL background is hardly a recommendation and you only have to look and some of the people who'd qualify to see what an illogical connection that is. Rumour, gossip, chit chat, not based on fact: Just a reminder that this is all there is out there or a trip to the church for the wake! See you there everyone!

I would be more comfortable if we brought someone in who had a background in sports management rather than RL, there seems to be to much of the old boys network, if you're looking for a replacement for Sheens John Kear would have been a decent replacement, if/when Smith leaves Warrington he'd be the best in the business.
