Hi all
I've been in contact with the person who runs The Salford Faithful (@srdfaithful Twitter) account.
We thought it might be a good idea to throw our collective hats in to the ring and see whether between us we can raise the £1000 required to potentially sponsor the club shirt next season. Not sure how we would achieve this yet but we could maybe have Salford Faithful as home kit, Deviltalk as the away kit, or vice versa.
It would be pretty good if a fan-led sponsor was on the shirt. What do you all think?
At this point it is an expression of interest and if anyone is up for it just reply to this post (or DM me) with a rough estimate of how much you would be willing to contribute.
If we don't reach the £1000 mark, we could always use any funds gained to joint-sponsor a player next season.
Thanks.

I have a counter proposal if I may which help the club just as much and encourage us to protect of future by developing our own talent.
The club needs to raise £40k each year so would the forum consider getting involved in raising funds for the Reserves which would help the club by not having them dip into the player pot for next season and thereafter. Some of you may already be aware of the efforts that a few of us have started and in fact we have another meeting tonight at the Dog N Partridge in Eccles to progress our ideas. We haven't finalised our fundraising plans yet but there will plenty of opportunities to support e.g. Sponsoring the Reserve team's shirts or maybe sponsoring the team sheet...you get the idea.

I would have assumed that those bodies which pay £1000 to have a shot at sponsoring the first team shirts would have some of their money siphoned to the Reserve team anyway, or have I got that wrong? Either way, any funds raised can only be a positive for both the first and reserve teams. Happy to help where I can.

Ultimately isn’t it all going towards the same cause? I’m willing to chip in £20 but it will be difficult to raise that amount by the 16th.

The Mitsubishi deal would have been worth a few bob and i so I can assume that they have tried, without success, to replace that income with one shirt sponsor. I don't know how many £1ks they need to replace that but i imagine they would need a fair few. If DT were to sponsor the reserves in some form you would great visibility and probably for a lower figure.

The fee was going to be £30,000 I believe. Think the club have only just broke into double figures for entires into the draw. They are hoping for a few more this week.

I’d back the idea of supporting/sponsoring something to do with the reserves rather than the first team shirts. Unless I’m mistaken there is no commercial aspect to devil talk or Salford faithful so there is no business to grow. I’d rather one of the local businesses that have bid got the sponsorship as it might help them griw, employ more local people etc. And it will increase engagement with the local community
Just my view of course

Could always nominate a charity to be named on the shirt if the bid won if you wanted to get something more out of it than giving the club money?

Maybe a reserve sponsorship may be the way to go?

Thanks Carnster
I feel like a bit of a party pooper! Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, just a concern I had about it
But the charity idea could be a good one. I think some individuals have done that (Paul king nominated Christie’s I think???) and if they really are struggling to get people to stump up the grand then maybe it will be the more the merrier

I'm sorry but £30,000 per season is terrible, shown on a national broadcaster and and seen by millions throughout the season.
With our increased profile right now I'd say someone at the club isn't doing their job properly if we aren't getting lots more interest on the back of our current headline grabbing status.
As for chipping in I'll PM you Ginge.

I've just got back from the Reserve Team meeting and we will be having lots of events going on over the next few months. Whatever the forum decides to do with regards to sponsorship do bear in mind the Reserves in mind.
For those that attended the Awards evening last Saturday you will have seen the Supporters Trust present both Ians with there Heritage Certificates. We hope to monetise the list so that we can raise money for the Reserves

The post was about the £1k and I would support the raising of the £1k and would give to this The group meeting about the reserves seems a bit odd in this context. I'm sure they're doing their best though but to direct all monies to that, seems a bit of an obsession, why? why not start another thread?

The thread was about raising money for sponsorship all I was highlighting was that there were other sponsorship opportunities that's all.
