What a surprise Leeds are on again tonight. At 20k a game it’s a nice little earner for them. The money for Tui has been paid of now on Sky appearances alone.

I’ve said it before but, for team like Leeds the 20k probably doesn’t cover the money lost from stay at home fans. For teams like Salford though the drop is small enough that we’d benefit from the 20k.
That being said, Leeds are benefiting massively from a marketing/sponsorship point of view from the exposure they are getting. It is beyond a joke. When we are trying to attract sponsors and investment how can we compete when the likes of Leeds are on TV 15+ times more than us a year? What bothers me the most is that we actually attract decent viewing figures when we eventually do appear on Sky.
The money isn’t the biggest issue - the exposure is. We get a balanced airing from journalists but absolutely get the short end of the stick from broadcasters. I’d hope when the new deal gets negotiated we have enough leverage and nouse to stipulate a more balanced schedule.

We'll have to get the East Stand full of school kids, in for the experience, when Sky do eventually come. There must be enough schools in the NWest wanting a free day out, maybe sponsored by Nando's, when Sky do eventually turn up.

Watching Saints and Wire last night Sky commentator Barry McDermott mentioned the resurgent Leeds Rhinos 6 times how they are making a late push for the top 5, we didn’t get mentioned once, don’t they talk crap.

When Mcdermott's on I turn the sound off. He says absolutely nothing of vallue and constantly whitters on. Now in Leeds Hall of Fame he keeps on about Leeds and says the same thing 6x because he can't think of anything else to say. Dire, sadly manages to make RL seem dull.
They need John Kear, his knowledge of the game is second to none and really interesting to listen to.

It’s a shame we don’t have any ex players that are/could be part of the Sky studio team and call out this crap or at least name drop us. Hastings has obviously been down a couple of times and done the Super League Show as well but he can’t do it all and he’s a bit busy right now. None of the current team are doing us any favours.

I can't even hear minute 1 of the Sky commentary now.
Ev-Alds bring a prime example, it seems the ill educated morons on there are incapable of evening getting the basics right.
Vossy, Noble and Kear now that would be dreamy.

I believe this once again highlights the lack of competency from the people at Sky running Rugby League coverage in this country. I mean, Leeds have been dire to watch literally all season (and last night wasn't much better despite them scoring 40 points), and what's the point of showing a game against Catalan when there's literally no away fans in the stadium and therefore no atmosphere. Additionally, Catalan are on Sky at home every other weekend so it's not like they lack any coverage themselves to raise brand awareness and increase sponsorship revenues.
It's like next week, they're showing Leeds v Saints which is a pointless game. Saints have already won the league and Leeds are already safe, where's the added value to the game for the general spectator? Whereas if they'd have shown Hull FC v Salford, you have a massive game which both teams need to win to make the play-offs and both sides are in decent form. I really don't understand the decision making at times, it's like the producers don't actually have a full interest in the game or they're just plain dumb.
Questions must be asked but who's asking them?

He does my head in when, after a try is scored he tells us what we have just watched

I don't know how they can justify it. when are Salford on sky again? Probably when we play Leeds in September. Don’t think the televised fixtures from the last weekend in August onwards have been announced yet.

Would say there's a decent chance of our home game vs Wire going on sky? Although after our last TV appearance maybe it's for the best if they don't show us more often!

It would be interesting what the reception would be if the next deal said OK the contract is worth A during the regular season so each club will receive an equal amount B.
You'd see your Leeds, Saints & Wigan crying foul if that was the case.
But if you think about it unless the RFL say each club receives a certain amount that's the only fair way to go.

Michegan that would be a fairer split to try and even out the so called "level" playing field. I'd go one step further and make sure each team got the same amount of TV exposure during the regular season. If not then how can Ian Blease go to a sponsor and ask for the same amount of sponsorship money as one of the so called big four. Salford are usually the team with the least number of games on say 3 or 4 whereas Leeds are on maybe 15 or 16 times each year? Also if Salford have a Season like we've had this year with the Fast flowing Rugby it would give us exposure and get people talking more. This would surely encourage more people to come down!
