My observations of Catalan today are that they are a nasty team, lots of high shots, cheap shots in back play, always nagging at the ref and totally unsportsmanlike. Totally agree Red54 but the referee let them get away with it all afternoon. Very weak refereeing from Kendall. I also thought that if a Kicker is taken late after the ball is gone it was an automatic 10 minutes in the sin bin for the offending player (Or was that one of the rules introduced and ignored after 2 or 3 games)?

Part of the refs job is to protect players.High shots, late tackles, elbows in on the ground; they did it all and just one penalty when the touch judge came in and no sin binning. Awful.

I’m guessing you may regret this post in the morning, absolutely reeks of alcohol. Yeah had a scoop but still 100% think that Tomkins is a stone cold cheat, way beyond anything I've seen on the professional playing field.
It might be unpalatable but the reaction when Walker was down injured said it all, a player who attempted to stand up but was obviously on Bambi legs yet he still stood there shouting the odds for the Catalan player who was lucky to stay on the pitch is unforgivable.
I get what you’re saying and I can’t stand the guy as a player (I don’t know him personally) but when it’s all said and done it’s only a game. He has a young family to provide for and to wish a debilitating injury on someone is a taking things a bit far.

Also when he was trying to prevent a try in the 1st half Tomkins piled in with his knees in a shocking manner, if it had been a televised game (or if we had competent officials) he would have been marched for sure.
I think the phrase the Aussies use is grub, he's a nasty grub.

Forget what the opposition did, it was a good performance from the we can’t play in Red Devils. Great to see Tui starting to show what he can bring to the side.

Did anyone actually see (without their South Stand specs on!😁) what happened to Walker? I honestly didn't as there were a couple of men in the tackle and my view was obscured. Couple of people near me said it was an elbow to the head but then again if it was an ankle tap they'd probably say the same thing!😂

Do the club film all home games for their own highlights package? With it not being a Sky game I assume that's the only way we could cite a Catalans player if we had our own footage and foul play was involved. I'm just wondering if the reaction from our players was due to the head injury and Walker's stricken state rather than the actual challenge itself.

Just seen that it was considered by the panel (as were a few other incidents during the game) but a penalty was considered sufficient. Paul King seems a but upset about it!

It wasn’t given a penalty, was it? Wasn’t a scrum to Catalans the outcome, or am I thinking of a different injury?

Yeah Catalan head and feed, I'll be honest I didn't spot it happen, if you look at the highlights you see Tomkins pile into Olpherts and not a dickie bird was said. Does make you worry what Toronto will be allowed to get away with next season.

Yeah defo gave a knock on against us and Catalans head & feed. Pretty sure this is the 2nd time this season the panel has made the judgment "penalty sufficient" as they came up with the same b0ll0cks after Taia(?) put a late shot on one of our players when we got robbed at Saints.
That was a definite sin-bin offence and arguably the last minute no-try wouldn't have made a difference had the ref not bottled it and gave him 10.

Having just read the panel review notes below I don't think any of the incidents listed actually cover the Walker incident.🤔 www.rugby-league.com/article/55368/disciplinary--match-review-panel

As their player also went off injured I presumed it was some sort of head clash but I didn't have a good view of it so could be wrong.

My son was in the south stand and swears it was a shoulder to walkers head . I Couldn’t see anything wrong with the tacklefrpm the west stand, the Salford players didn’t react much other than trying to stop walker standing up. Catalans player also went off with a head injury so I assume it was a head clash I know this won’t be popular but I thought Kendal had a pretty good game. I’m sick of all the whinging about refs. I agree with panel about the tackle on Tui. It was late but it wasn’t high, wasn’t blindsided, wasn’t especially dangerous. Penalty is fine. If he’d binned the tackler he’d have had to bin Tui as well for his reaction. I haven’t seen any complaints about no action against him for punching a prone opponent in the face Catalans are are a tough physical team with some big units. Tomkins has always played the game at the edge of what is ok. Like Connor does, like gimme used to and loads of other players. It’s rugby league, physical domination and putting your opponent off their game is part of the dark arts that I hope is always part of the game, it’s nothing like it used to be and I welcome how it’s been cleaned up over the years but there needs to be some niggle in the game to keep us all interested
