"Big teams will cherry pick Salford’s best players, admits Ian Watson"
Sorry everyone I didn't see this had already been mentioned on the Rob Lui thread!

I do think the idea that the salary cap makes it an even palying field is a myth that needs putting in the dustbin.
It is made to stop teams going broke and the Bulls will tel you that is going well!
It does provide wonderful entertainment if you're caught breaking it though, and a points deduction within an unfair system is always good value for the money.

It was still a win against Leeds and how many times have we been able to say that in recent decades. Inu kicked out on the full again but look at the other points he gained. He also did not lose us the game against Wigan that was a team Cock up. Be happy that we have a team able to compete. I was looking at 18 points and safety now I am looking at top 5. It’s time to be happy not doom and despondency

After living in Leeds for so long I like to savour these rare wins for as long as possible.

Living in Leeds ... isn't that a contradiction?
Great win and I'm still enjoying that but Watto says half the team are out the door!

No he didn’t- he says he’d like to keep everyone but it will be difficult. Nobody is ‘out of the door’ until they have signed elsewhere. We are all fully aware of the financial situation and I’m not sure we need reminding of it constantly- especially when we should be enjoying a good win. One minute Russ you are criticising people on here for being negative and the next you are criticising me for doing the same - perhaps you just enjoy ruffling people’s feathers?

Enjoy what we have now ffs. What do you want Salford to do with not a lot of money coming in. We have to sell to survive and get big earners off the books sad to see but that’s the reality. Hopefully we will have a academy up and running soon to add as a feeder to the first team. Be that in SL or elsewhere I will still be there. Now savour the win and enjoy the season

Yes we all enjoy nights like last night but you cnt stand still you have to prepare as for selling we're not selling there out of contract no money for them! Genuine question would people watch us as a part time club in championship cos they do not watch now!

Genuine question would people watch us as a part time club in championship cos they do not watch now! Let’s all pack in now then and give up. Bet your great fun at parties. I know players are out of contract but as I said some are big earners and the club cannot afford them. And yes I will be there wherever we play as for others it’s up to them

Look at players who left us in the past, we thought we'd be in trouble when they went but no, we have got better cos of a few shrewd signings and taking a chance on players that clubs didn't want, we got through it then and we shall get through it now, let's enjoy the rest of this season and see what it brings us, enough of the doom and gloom

What is the prize money structure in the league as surely that has a bearing on finances?
Also I suspect someone like Hastings would buy into the club even more if this season pans out well, could you imagine how fired up he would have been for CC semi against Wigan?
I suspect we will go down the young lower league British player route, not a bad thing.
I suspect that Tomkins (surely a high earner) will go and we'll either get Brining back or drip in the young hooker we have already.
I'd personally see if anyone wants Turgut and see if there a swap deal available as he is clearly on the outer and I'd guess unlikely to play again.

I savour the win last night off course I do and so should everyone else. But me personally I would have been bitterly disappointed if we had not beaten that Leeds side last night. If they are paying the salary cap to put that team together then Rugby League as a professional sports as big problems.I think the game his heading back to being semi professional I think when the next sky money comes it will be a lot lower than the last deal.
