I'm sorry but I simply ly refuse to believe that we would racially abuse our own players (or other teams obviously).
You wonder if this is being done to destabilise the club to aid the speed up our apparent self destruction and have us unable to start season 2020 in SL.
But to get back on track a cracking win and I'd guess 2 more wins needed to ensure we have enough points to avoid the bottom spot.

We were sat behind the sticks in the "new" stand in the second half and were fairly close to where Olpherts a) completely missed a cut-out ball (I think from Jacko) and then b) in our next set he dropped a pass from Welham (think it was the first pass he had from him all game)… there was lots of groaning but certainly no hint of anything worse...

As I’m deaf as a post I obviously can’t comment on what was or was not chanted but looking at the journalist’s comments the chants/shouts seems to have been from an isolated few and she has stated that she can easily pick them out. They dont seem to have been widely heard or gone on for a long time. Hopefully the culprits are identified, dealt with according and thats the end of it.

I’ve heard and challenged racist abuse over the years by Salford fans and others. Not loads but enough. I’ve not heard any for years now but it’s a long time since I was regularly with the most vociferous if our fans. Most recent was some anti Muslim abuse to someone near coaches coming back from Catalans about 3 years ago But lots of people have no problem shouting abuse at their own players. Why would it be surprising that for a few it includes racial elements? Esp when racist abuse is back on the rise and you see more and more of it on social media and elsewhere Not saying what has or hadn’t happened but I don’t find it unbelievable, sadly. As has been said let’s hope it’s just a few morons and they are dealt with. Olpherts gets enough stick off his own fans without this. I think we should get some ‘Derrel’ chants going on Friday to show that the majority of Salford fans are behind him

Looking at the tweets from the journo involved it seems that it was a racist rant of abuse towards Olpherts from an individual rather than any racist chanting. Hopefully the person involved are identified and banned.

We were sat outside the main bar, near to the group of London fans. At no point did we hear from anyone abuse of any type, nor any evidence of drunkenness. I would urge anyone adding fuel to this story to show restraint. With the “news” of losing players and financial difficulties we shouldn’t be kicking ourselves when we are down. I did hear someone sat next to me calling him ‘Hopeless’ . I think it was Estagnol. Seriously,we need to defuse this. At no time did I hear anything remotely racist. For the record,as Font well knows,I think Olpherts has made tremendous progress with his performances and, along with Daniel Murray, is our most improved player.

There were a quite a few Drunk Red Devils fans sat towards the rear to the right end in the new stand but they were at least 200 yards away from the pitch ,So I'm guessing it was someone walking up the side of the Pitch somewhere near the Bar where the individual was .

Anyone that’s stood in the South Stand on a regular basis knows that we clearly have a very small minority of morons that follow us. I can totally believe that this happened, just hope it was an individual who can be identified and banned.

If any of our "fans" are found to be chanting racist abuse then they should be banned for life. And I'd hope anyone in here didn't protect the individual/s involved if they know who they are.
If that journo is able to identify the culprit/s why didn't she say something at the time? Much better to speak to a steward and get that person ejected/charged than to wait until you're back in the press room and stir some sh1t up through the media which could drag the whole club into the mire. This is not the club's doing yet their name is once again being dragged through the mud.

Still pisses me off that the journo didn't report it there and then. Reading that article as well it's a little inflammatory to say "it could be more widespread" as well. Based on what? I'd be amazed (if it's true) if it's more than 1 or 2 individuals.

Perhaps he did. Steve Mascord was sat with Gary (and possibly Gemma) Carter during the first half. I also saw him in the bar after the game. So, he was there. That said, I was in the stand and heard nothing of that nature.

It was Gemma Carter that mentioned it on Twitter and said that she would be able to point out the culprits (more than one) so she was definitely there.

Well hopefully she does and the RFL/club and anyone in between jump like the roaches they are. Sorry my leanings are right of centre and even I see that this type of thing has no place anywhere in todays society.
