Apparently Lui was rested.
Going for the 2 points was quiet frankly insane, said at the time and was proven right.
How was that 1st tackle not an offence? Dudsons head was like a soft boiled egg they took him that high, for the ref to give the scrum to Wigan was nothing short of dishonest.
Him being missing (anyone know why?) was a big factor.
Get Big Ben offered to Wigan and swap him for Bullock as he's fecking huge, until BB gets aggressive we will not be effective sad to say.

The usual brainfarters are out in force on Twitter. We really do have some highly critical `fans` - some presumably never even go to mthe games.
Today Wigan didnt win it - we LOST it. We really should take into account that 2 intense games with 2 of the Biggest Salary Cappers takes its toll in concentration and fatigue.
Unlike a few of you I will take positives from some of the players today - Hastings was HUGE - different gravy to everyone maybe bar Williams (Marquee Contract!) - Inu did a good job on Gildart - Walker a terrific buy - Burke again playing out of his skin & Griffin put in a great shift but looked knackered in the last 20 - . The negatives for me were Wood - he is a #9 at best but in fairness to play 80 minutes after his injury was a good effort but he`s no Half back at this level - Inus 2 daft kicks out on the full - the first minute injury to Dudson left us short on the bench - and Ganson needs to speak to his Officials about the PTB nonsense as players are milking the refs for fun.
I`m still positive - its the best Salford side for a long, long time - come on - make the effort to go to Larndon - tis a VITAL match.

Lui had a knock. Watson said post match that his hamstrings had tightened up too much to risk him. Could have played but were concerned he’d be out a few weeks if anything went wrong
Seems fair enough. We did enough to win without him. I feel like with him we might have got an extra try or two which would have won it. And he’s better in defence than Wood, esp goal line. But it’s pure speculation isn’t it. Wood struggled in the first half I think, did better in the second. Either way we had the game won so it shouldn’t have mattered

I’m breaking my own cardinal rule if arguing with some of them! Thought it would be cathartic. It’s not! I’m still looking forward to London and expecting a win. I’ve been really annoyed and frustrated after the game but we are competing so well in every game. And, on balance, it’s a good frustration cis it’s about games we should have won rather than just us bring rubbish!

Lui slight hammy
What happened to Dudson in the first tackle? Seemed high but never even put on report.
And why can't we adopt the Oz rule at the ptb and stop teams like Wigan creating penalties?

The thing that really annoys me about Wigan is this 'playing for penalties' at the ptb. Pathetic but the refs let them get away with it. And that son of Wigan, Tomkins apparently did the same trick 4 or 5 times for Catalan yesterday....and the ref was overheard telling him to stop it.
In Oz rugby the instruction to refs is stop teams doing this and wave play on, with a warning. And it's working. Sadly it's ruining our game and Wigan continually use it to the detriment of the sport. Needs to be sorted.

I agree in part with what you say.But it will never be sorted that's why we should start doing the same. The Wakefield coach was complaining about the pieaters and their tackling techniques the same thing Rangi Chase got band for nothing done and never will be.The game over here is light years behind Australia especially referring so when in Rome do as the Romans do.As I have said early on their was no way he was going to let us win yesterday. These referees will kill the game and the clowns running the show can't see it.

Not much more I can add really on what's already been said. We should've won, and once again silly mistakes have cost us dearly.
I would've taken one win from two over the Easter period, but it's the manner in which we lost which hurts. Our home form is a bit worrying. Another couple of wins would leave us right in the mix for a top 5 spot.
Ah well, onto next week. Two games now against, statistically, the two worst teams in the league. Impossible to call, we're that unpredictable.

One hell of an exciting game that. Errors on both sides and from the officials but highly entertaining. Be thankful that we had a game which for all its faults provides top action and entertainment.

Agree Gill but sadly for me far far too many niggly unnecessary penalties given by the ref. Ruins the game: have a look at Oz RL....it's a get on with it. Sadly that's the issue with the game for me: they blow up for easy pointless penalties around the ptb but very rarely any offsides or forward passes ( they're a tad more difficult to see)

Going for the 2 points was quiet frankly insane, said at the time and was proven right. Absolutely, I was raging at that decision.. I just don't understand when we are in the ascendancy running them absolutely ragged do we go for the two points instead of turning the screw. We were 20 metres from the fekking line and instead of getting territory and then 6 tackles on their try line, we get a poxy two irrelevant points and the ball back on our try line. Not the first time we have done that and then gone on to lose the game. All that does is hand the impetus back to the opposition and shows that we don't have the confidence in ourselves to win the game.

Lussick in team of the week And Greenwood for Wigan Greenwood and that little shoit Williams were unplayable at times yesterday, you can see why Wigan wanted/want Hastings, can you imagine him and Williams in the halves.
Said it yesterday I'd be making serious enquiries about Bullock as he is a monster and just what our pack needs.
