We gifted them a 14 point headstart without them even meriting it. Again, stupid penalties and mistakes by Salford. 2nd half, much better. Gutted that we lost it at the end... looks like Evalds didn't take ownership of the high ball but hard for me to tell from the South stand. Referee was terrible. I genuinely think that the state of referring in this country is having a detrimental effect on crowd numbers. It feels like Thaler was bunged off today it was so one-sided. This is probably the 4th or 5th game this season where I've walked away thinking "we should have won that". Fine margins are the difference between top half and bottom half of the league table. Referees will kill Rugby League in the long run no doubt about. As for today Evalds lost us the game never let a Rugby ball bounce.

It wasn’t the ref who lost the game for Salford today it was Salford themselves. 14 down with 20 mins gone. Stupid mistakes at crucial times. Olepherts dropping the ball and giving them a scrum when Salford were on top. Niall not challenging for the ball and Williams claiming his own kick then they score, however the tackles missed on that play were ridiculous. You cannot give teams like Wigan chances or they will score. The players need to get smarter or there will be more disappointments like today.

You can take your pick for individual errors that ‘cost us the game’ - Inu kicking out on full twice, Olpherts dropping the kick return to give them their first come back try, evalds letting it bounce, non-one standing in front of the ball to slow Williams down so he couldn’t challenge for it, Bibby, griffin and Wood’s poor goal line defence allowing greenwood two fall over tries, Wood trying to drive over on the last when it was never on then lying behind the play the ball to give away the penalty when we dominating in the first half, Hastings and woods poor short kicking in the first half, any number of stupid penalties
But the truth is that it’s all the errors together. All those individuals also did some fab things that got us points as made us plenty of metres
We had the beating of Wigan all day long when we kept hold of the ball. We absolutely bossed the middle, Wood was slow in the passing line in the 1st half as you would expect first game there. but it didn’t matter. all we needed to do was attack the ruck and we comfortably win the game. Unfortunately the players were queuing up to make stupid amateurish errors and worked overtime to find ways of losing it
At the end of the day it is simply not good enough. No excuses. Just poor

Yes the error's cost us.Every fifty fifly went their way.sorry to disagree with you.Their was no way he was letting Salford win. With these clowns we will finish with a six team league and a slow death in fact I would go as far as to say they are keeping people away. Why waist £20 to go and watch Salford and Wigan when you know one team will be shafted. And by the way what we have touch judges for i don't no.You would be better off getting a couple of five years old doing the job.

There was some low quality decisions, even a Wigan fan said exactly the same post match in the pub.
The baldy in goal judge was 100% unprofessional, Wigan scored a 1st half try from a dubious decision to give them a penalty and then got dogs abuse under the post waiting for the kick, not only did he turn round and smirk at the Salford fans while waiting for the conversion he also turned round and smirked at the Salford fans when the kick sailed over the upright (on a different day that wasn't given).

Said at half time that Olpherts was playing well, but always had a mistake in him and so it proved. That was the real turning point as due to the barmy fixture schedule neither side could defend their line in the second half so territory was key. I don't think we got in their half again until the last set.
There's a picture surfacing on anti social media showing Greenwood knocked on when scoring.
Some real get out of jail penalties for Wigan as well. 2 high kicks knocked on and we get pulled for offside, and also one for Burgess tackled in the air when he seemed to have landed.
Can't give teams a 14-0 lead though and expect to win. It's happened a few too many times this season now.

Going for 2 when Wigan were barely able to stand 2nd half while 4 up was the biggest turning point of the game, gave them 2 or 3 mins rest when we should of had walker and Jones running at em.

Yeah another try there would've won it but when Hardaker hit the post with his conversion it looked like that penalty was going to end up as the winning 2 points.

He’s touching the ball in the photo that allegedly proves it.

Sorry but Inu won that for Wigan, 2 consecutive kicks out on the full is a crime (despite his next KO him taking my advice for a short un) . Can't work out the tactic of a short range bomb into the in-goal towards Burgess, couple of times Hastings did this down the Wigan left flank only for it to be defused and them get an easy 7 tackle set. Big Ben I'm sorry waste of a match day 19 spot. Was Lui rested or injured? Time to bring Turgut back into the frey for me. Wood, class, like he's not missed a beat. Hastings at the end, he was beyond upset, was screaming he was that upset to loose. Disappointed at our fans, them trying to get into the East stand at the end was inexcusable. Turgut has fallen out with Watson. I'm pleased that Wood is back, but ,he did just ok,which is fine for first start. Amazed that you singled him for praise. Big Ben will never win an NRL contract unless he develops a mongrel side. In fairness he ran well today. We’re competitive but our own worst enemy. Jackson playing a different game to the rest and we missed Lui hugely
