The best win in the Super League era. The MPG was more important as a club but this as a performance was even better. Jake Bibby played in the academy as a centre not a wing and coaches talk about competition for places to make players perform better but it's not his fault he's played on the wing because he's not an automatic shoe in at centre. Let's pick the team on merit and play people in their best position.

As an antedote to all the pundits who gave us no chance and who are backing it up by focussing on how poor the Dragons were (yet again!) "Catalans highlighted what a threat they can pose on home soil as they defeated the previously undefeated Warrington last week. They now host Salford as they look to make it three wins from three in home matches this season with the Stade Gilbert Brutus set to be a fortress. The French outfit will be without the mercurial Tony Gigot which will cause a reshuffle in the backs but they should still have too much for Salford. " How wrong can you be?
The idea tha SRD might have been the better team and Catalan were simply outplayed seems to have escaped attention somehow, and the Dragons are my second team in SL.

Obviously like many others I couldn't go last night, but watched a brilliant team performance which was absolutely class from every 1-17 and the congratulations also go to the coaching team. The performance and everything connected to Salford has not gone unnoticed as you just have to go on the Wigan board on scarlet turkey to see they praising both the spine of our attack and Hastings. Someone has also suggested Watson is under rated and that they would like him in place of Lam. I really would nt be surprised if someone came looking at him as he has done an exceptional job under quite a tight budget and the lure of a possible Wigan move may just tempt him in the near future, however I hope he shows loyalty, as Hastings did and the club recognise his importance to the club as a whole. He may event get a shot at Leeds as they don't seem to like Furner either...couldn't blame him if he did go, but I hope he doesn't. As regards last nights performance, I have in the past been a critic of Bibby but what a performance against a Catalan side who on paper looked a decent squad and had size and power. They just didn't look interested or allowed to compete due to our superb defence. The last try may have been a little forward pass, but I loved it when Tomkins turned his back and just allowed Sio to run under the posts....that was worth watching just for that. Big game next week against a strong Cas side but we seem to play better away from home at the moment so I hope we can put on a good show. COME ON YOU REDS

Great to see the youngsters Murray, Ben, Bibby, Lawton grafting digging in and tackling. The experienced players were awesome as well. And we have Sau Chamberlain Mossop Walker etc sitting in the wings.
Good also to see a ref that gave 2 forward passes and didn't spend time over analysing the ptb. Child's note this rule....forward pass.
Oh and also to see Tomkins continual having a go at the ref, in the same old Wigan way, being taken no notice of.

Having a relaxing afternoon in Perpignan after witnessing last night a masterclass of how to play rugby league. Simply the best performance by a Salford team in modern memory. If we dont add 1000 more bums on seats for the Wigan game after that then i give up Allez Les Diables Rouges

Don’t agree with this Russ - Twitter is full of praise for Salford from journalists and the Sky feed alike.

We got away with a couple of forward passes ourselves! It always evens out over a season.

The dragons were woeful. That doesn’t mean we weren’t brilliant. Both can be true and both can be said without it being a slight to the other team.
If it had been the other way round would you have thought our right hand defence was good enough? I wouldn’t and I would have said we weren’t good enough.
The quote you’ve got above appears to be from before the game. Not many thought we would win. Including most Salford fans. Sometimes it helps not to try and find everything being against us and enjoy the overwhelmingly positive comments we are getting - lots from fans of other clubs

But I’m still basking in last nights win. Think 1000 might be ambitious but we’ve seen a 12% rise in crowds so far apparently so let’s hope that continues

A mate of mine who is a Salford fan is married to a girl from St Helens and she is related to Mat Whitley, all through the game was texting him about how poor he was in defence
Will be interesting to see if Bibby keeps his place if Junior is fit, same with Chamberlain and Olpherts.
