Love Rugby is claiming that Marian Koukash, formerly of this Parish, is looking to set up a new Liverpool RL club. They have kits designed and everything (well kits designed anyway)

We could do with a presence in the 'Pool and that's been true and necessary for far too long.
While Anfield is Magic this is a fantastic move.
This is likely to meet criticism just because MK is involved.
But this is TGG so it will be bashed for even trying, won't get off the ground, will die a death without anyone noticing or will be gone after a few moments. Did I miss any of the usual suspects and responses?

You forgot "will be helped to bend the rules by the corrupt RFL", "constantly breach salary cap rules" and "will just be a feeder club for St Helens"

Another load of old bollocks doomed to failure and a big waste of money, but I bet it won’t be his money, I wonder if Brian Noble will be the first coach.

Nah, even Marwan knows that Noble is now past it. He'll go for Rowley as he had such outstanding success at both Leigh and Toronto...

If they want to invest: York. Good coach, good set-up, creating a future. Links to Humberside, Leeds and the north-east. A fillip of money and it could go places.

Maybe we need to dust off the re-branding thread!
""We're open to starting in League 1 or the alternative maybe is we are told by the RFL that it might be easier to buy an existing club and re-brand it."
The thing is this 'Pool thing is an even longer term project than SRD for success, crowds etc
So, considering how soon he caved in and gave up the ghost with Salford it doesn't bode well for the idea.
Sky headling says £taking Rugby League to Liverpool and not taking it "back" that's what you get when Johnny come latelies are your TV partners.

I can just hear those scousers singing "Rugby's coming home". No, on sober reflection maybe not.
Unless our kid's chucked it out along with my posters of Mike Coulman, Peter Smethurst, Harry Pilling, Cyril Maidment, Jimi Hendrix and Ernesto "Che" Guevara (when I left for college and he had our bedroom to himself), I still have a program from when we beat Huyton 61-0 (or was it 65-0?).
A bit off-topic, but for anyone who's not yet done it, go to the Google Maps page and type in "Gobshites". Childish, I know, but amusing.

What I can never understand is why RL fans seem so keen to see their sport fail, to expect it to fail and maybe cheer it on along the way a bit too?
