I was at the game Dixon but maybe you should hear what Danny Ward said about Salford`s tactics especially in the First Half.
`I thought - certainly in the First Half they (Salford) were outstanding just completing their sets - rolling it into the in goal making us either drop out or just take it out a metre from our line - it was outstanding from them (Salford). We defended quite a lot of sets - I think that just zapped us going into that second half - it took the juice out of us for later on in the game - Credit to Salford some of their stuff in the First Half was outstanding- Us as coaches that`s just what we`re after as a team- We`ll learn quite a bit from that as well`.

It seems quite a few people thought that we just had to turn up to win yesterday. Plenty of moans and groans in the first half despite that we were in total control of the game.
Quite similar to Huddersfield with a narrow half time lead then turning the screw in the second half to end up with a comfortable win.
Long may it continue.

I was happy with the performance and thought that we controlled/defended the edges really well. Spoke to Logan after the game and he was pretty low key about it all and said we'll need to do much much better against Leeds....Thought Big Ben was v solid (we'll need him once Mossop gets his 3 game ban...)

To see how good Salford were read the comments from of Ward the London coach. States that we played the perfect game....and that was after a flu bug went round the team last week...Lui in bed all Sat.
When was the last time a Salford team milled another Superleague team? No I haven't a clue either.
Learn to appreciate defence as well as attack. The great thing was the Shed really did understand and appreciate it. Their support wa fantastic when we were defending.

well done Ian Watson & his back room staff, I thought although at times it was not pretty it was a professional performance, in rugby league to nil any team shows how hard the team worked on defence.
I though Josh Jones & Gil Dudson stood out for me, very happy with that performance.

Ok my thoughts on yesterday....
Positives
Our defence was excellent. We literally looked like conceding maybe a couple of times all game and those chances were snuffed out with some great last ditch scrambling defence.
Dudson - Another really good game from a guy many were slating when we signed. He seemed to make a lot of metres yesterday and his defence was excellent. Him and Burke have been a pleasant surprise. Ben came on and punched some holes and appears to be getting to grips with SL now and JJ was a constant menace and getting somewhere near back to his best.
Olpherts - Returned the ball hard and made plenty of half breaks, constantly putting London on the back foot. Yes he let one high bomb bounce but that ball was swerving all over the place and not blaming him one bit for that. Defensively he's been very good the past 2 games (put some big hits in against Hudds) and he's come on massively this season. Just need to get him confident under that bomb and we'll have ourselves a decent player.
Top of the league! I expected us to start with 2 from 2 and the lads have delivered in fine style. Beat Leeds next week and we'll go into the HKR game with huge confidence. If we get the win next week I fancy us to go to KR and do a job in them as well.
Negatives
Wasted a lot of good opportunities early on and weren't as clinical as we should be in their 20. Having said that I'm not going to be too critical as that flu bug must have impacted things.
South Stand Whingers - Christ alive we've got some miserable fucktards supporting this club! Couple of guys spent the whole game whinging (they're regular miserable sods as well). It's obvious you guys have anger issues so please sod off and support Swinton if you revel in misery that much!😁
Atmosphere - Pretty crap tbh but it's London at home and it's never exactly bouncing for these games. We need to make a concerted effort to join up the singing in the South Stand tho. We have various pockets of singers and we need to all get involved like we do at away games.
Mossop - Think he's been brilliant stepping up as pack leader now Koppy has gone but he needs to curb his temper. We need all the bodies on the pitch with such a small squad and he'll be missed against Leeds. There are plenty of little gobshites in this league that will wind him up and he can't deck them all!
Last tackle kicking - Let's be honest it was pretty crap!😊 Attacking wise we probably only forced a couple of drop-outs all game. And when kicking form deep the amount of times we found Dixon and Williams on the full was ridiculous. Definitely need to be more clinical against Leeds.
In summary.... great start to the season. Watto and the team are doing a great job with the limited budget and the squad really look like they're playing for each other. Definitely got a feel of the 2005/2006 season about it.

I agree with pretty much all of that Salford Slim
On the kicking front, I was struggling to get it at the time but it looked deliberate to me. The kicks Hastings was putting in all stopped a couple of metres short of the line. It looked harder than putting them in-goal to me. Given Danny Wards comments after the game I wonder if we’d decided that rather than getting repeat sets we would make them keep bringing the bell away from their line to tire them out and/or force an error so we got the ball back? Not sure but it looked deliberate to me

Pretty much agree with all that's been said. Decent win, 2 out of 2, great start to the season. Was impressed with our defence yesterday, can't remember the last time we nilled someone in SL. We could've been a bit more clinical, especially in the first half, but no major complaints given the flu bug which had been going around.
Not a bad crowd too, considering. There seemed to be a few new faces in the South Stand; the group who stand in front of us seemed to bring a load of new mates/family or whoever, good effort - hopefully they come back! It'd be nice to get over 4k for the Leeds game.
Leeds game should be really interesting. It'll be our toughest test yet; we'll have to step up if we want to win, but I think we can do it. They'll be desperate to beat us and get their first win, especially as they're at Saints the following week.

I was speaking to a colleague earlier who is a lifelong Leeds fan and he's not very confident that Leeds will get anything from next weekend's game... but he thinks it is brilliant that we are top of the league :-)

Flu. Cancelled training sessions. Players under performing. Yet still managed a 24-0 score against a side that put 40+ on Wakey. I'll take it. So will I and many other fans,Lui could hardly breathe when he was substituted.

I thought Lui was a bit off the pace yesterday, but now I know he was playing with a bad cold, I'll say he did brilliantly in the circumstances. He did, as you say, look absolutely knackered when he came off. Top effort from the man. Perhaps he's given his cold to every single member of the London team? Who've they got next, must allow for that on the coupon...

Great that we are top. Next 4 or 5 games are massive. Next week will be tough, but it's a winnable game. Then it's three tough away games on the bounce. One or two wins from the next 4 and it'll have been a great start to the season.
