In the second vote I've gone for Cartwright, I appreciate he didn't play a huge number of games (and indeed bust an arm) but he was class, a class above anyone else at the club in that periods. Best ball playing 2nd row I've seen at the club. The dreamer in me would kill to see his (chip of the family block) in a red shirt while his uncle John is the Head coach. Same here. Although longevity played a big part in my other votes he was too good to ignore. As you say, an absolute class above. Dixon should walk this one though and rightly so according to my dad.

Dixon and BMM. What a 2nd row partnership that would be. Can't believe that BMM was not an option for either spot.

Has to be Dixon for me - best Iāve seen play in a Salford shirt.
As for BMM, as good as he was for us, if the vote is for āThe Willows Wallā surely players need to have played there??

Could not agree more. This is why the concept is a bit of a joke. Colin his the best I have seen in a Salford jersey. You can't mention BMM in the same breath you would be laughed at.

Cartwright great but Colin Dixon all day.
But one from the archive who died tragically in a car accident I believe not long after leaving us , he had the best physique as well as speed to burn, if he would have lived he would have gone on to play test rugby for the aussies, Jeff Selby( I think jeff was spelt that way).
I know he only played a short spell for us but what a player, he came over with another inspirational player in Neil Baker.

Brian Snape actually signed Dixon as he thought he would convert to a great loose forward. He soon realised his mistake and CD became a fantastic second rower. He had the lot

I agree. Brian Snape actually signed Dixon as he thought he would convert to a great loose forward. He soon realised his mistake and CD became a fantastic second rower. He had the lot What a lot people forget is.Colin played over 100 games in the centre and played international football in the position while at Halifax. Colin was an hard man on the field and gentleman of it,I saw him score two tries at Leeds from the half way line the first of the tries the great John Atkinson was left in his wake. The man played nearly 700 games for us Halifax and Hull KR.This is know exaggeration BMM isn't good enough to be on same pitch never mind the same team. And I have seen the two of them What should have happened with the wall the three greatest Salford teams should be on it.They were the 1914 team that beat the great Huddersfield invisibles in the championship final the great thirties team of Lance Todd the original Red Devils and the great seventies team put together by Brian Snape. The then could of been best of the rest.

I am sure Leeds didn't.Colin was faster than anything we have at club even now.I understand you can only vote for people you saw. That's why it's futile. In the 40 50 and sixties we had some very good players and players who come from other clubs who were internationals and we're medal winners who would have to be considered IE. Jackie Brennan Sid Lodon Billy Banks Ken Richard's and the fastest man I have seen in a Salford shirt.Wally Mcarthur.

From a distant memory, both those tries were very early on and almost identical, from half way. Were they ball steals ? I remember being scared that Leeds would come back and win,but I think we won in the end but Iām not certain

Not wishing to start an argument here Dixon but are you sure you're not exaggerating on how much pace he had? I know 2nd rows aren't all plodders but to say he's faster than Evalds & Johnson (just 2 examples) seems a tad unlikely. Happy to be put in my place though if he was that quick!!!š

Colin Dixon was that good that's why Brian Snape paid a then world record fee for him.You could not define Colin as a forward or back.He was just simply a great Rugby player.I think everyone who saw him would agree.

Yes he was a sort of Ellery Hanley but not as fast as Bill Burgess, Martin Offiah or Keith Feilding; probably a bit more than Evalds speed, who isn't that fast really.
But his tackling was ferocious. Probably the best forward I've seen in a Salford shirt.
