Doubt whether Paul Highton himself would expect to be on the list, let alone win it. This isn’t to diss an all round good bloke and tremendous servant to the Club. He would admit to not being in the same class as,say,Jonny Ward and many others He’s one of my favourite players in any position and I have no shame in saying that - ruthlessly exploited every bit of talent that he had, never made a backward step and was one of the highest tacklers every game. They way he played wore down the oppoistion pack much more than he was given credit for. Aware that I’m comparing him to players from the 80s onwards though. Jonny Ward may have been the business but I never saw him play.

He was definitely on the other prop list as I voted for him. I wasn’t exactly spoiled for choice on that one though (80s onwards). Bugger, missed that.
Going to have to relinquish my VIP membership to the Dai Young supporters club.
Always loved the fact the went to Leeds for silly money and they couldn't get anything from him, comes to lowly Salford and turns into a prop of the highest quality.

Btw, here's the list for the other prop-forward vote that most of us seemed to miss! www.salfordreddevils.net/willows-wall-open-side-prop-forward-voting/Is it just me that can spot the glaring error here?😁 Oh and out of that list I'd personally have to go with Youngy from the players I've seen in a Salford shirt. Proper Ram-Man of a prop and hard as nails! I guess you can't argue with Coulman's stats tho!

What are you trying to do to me John?😭 Based on overall performances over a long period of time he's got to be on there it's just that small matter of him giving up the ghost in his last season with us. That still rankles with a lot of fans.

Lots of names missing of the list if we are all honest.
If we put every player we all want on the list the winner would poss only get 5 votes,
we had a lot of great players in the postion, i have been following Salford since 62, so we had a lot of players to choose from,
But i have gone for Sean Rugerson plated is heart out for us.

If he his better than Jonny Ward or Ken Roberts or Mike Coulman or Ken Heliwell it must be a joke Dixon.... there's a slight problem here. Most people that vote won't remember those guys you mention above. I know I don't and I'm 41 so not exactly a spring chicken! There is very little footage about of our great players from the 60's/70's for example for a young fan to see how good they were yet if you're a Utd fan you can quite easily get hours of old matches where the likes of Best, Law and Charlton were gracing the turf at Old Trafford. Prime example of this is the team of the 70's. How many people on this forum (who aren't old enough to have seen them play live) have seen anything of Charlton, Hesketh, Watkins etc? I know I've seen a few fleeting clips on documentaries but that's it. I can only go off tales told to me by a mate who was brought up watching that team in his teenage years.
