Common sense really if we want any sort of match day experience around the ground rather than everyone turning up 5 mins before kick off for the Friday night games.
How many Sunday games we end up with after sky TV get their hands on the fixtures is another matter though.

Meh. I'm not a big fan of this personally as I enjoy a few pre-game and post-game beers. Can't be going to work with a sore head every Monday.

This subject has been done to death, but the obvious fact of the matter is that Sundays will mean more revenue for the club. More away support, more kids which in turn means more families. Seeing as we need to maximise our revenue it makes perfect sense. Fridays are alright for home supporting adults who can make it the start of their weekend, not so great for everyone else. Which is better will always be subjective, but from a financial point of view it's the only option currently.

Methinks Sunday has to be better, it gives families more time to get organised and plan a trip to the AJB, after all as the great Whitney Houston said... " I believe the children are our future" ... no doubt there will be many clashes with MUFC/MCFC but hey ho...

You know common sense, I know it's use now rare.

Meh. I'm not a big fan of this personally as I enjoy a few pre-game and post-game beers. Can't be going to work with a sore head every Monday. Sunday drinking is the best! Start early, finish early, fall into bed about 9pm and get a good 9/10 hours sleep ready to go on Monday morning!😁 Fridays are a pain in the ar$e for most people having to rush to get home after work and contend with the commuter traffic. The only issue with Sundays is a potential clash with Utd/City matches and there are plenty of fans who'll skip Salford if it clashes with the footy. Moving kick off time to 2pm would help accommodate this if Utd/City were on at 4 and I'm sure a few would stay around if they'd screen the match in the fans bar. If we get another summer like this year then hopefully we can get a few events on to attract families. BBQ's, fun days etc should entice a few extra fans down. Does anyone know how Sundays compare to Fridays from a corporate perspective? Does it really hit us in the pocket?

Fridays was always the preferred corporate night but it seems to have died off so I don't think it would make a massive difference, but I could be wrong.
As for clashing with Utd/city, perhaps it's time we should pick a time and day and just stick with it, regardless of clashes etc?
I know people who will miss games when it clashes but they also missed some Friday night games for various reasons so again is it worth swapping and changing for?
If it's gonna be Sunday 3pm then let's just try and stick with that as much as possible IMO.

I agree that this has been done to death and you can never please everyone. Sunday’s give the best opportunity for matches to become an event - get the community clubs to come straight from their games and get the kids involved in pre-match fun, as said above, family fun days, bbqs, football matches on screens in the bars afterwards, celebrity guests
There are risks with clashes with football but given the soccer matches are increasingly on all weekend then that will happen whenever we play. There will be people who choose football over rugby but it is up to club and fans to make the rugby feel unmissable. Season ticket holders at United or city will make their own minds up but if people choose to watch it on TV rather than experience the live action at the AJ Bell then there’s not much to be done for them. Could even link in with local clubs and market aggressively when they play Saturdays to make a sporting weekend by coming to Salford on Sunday
A few people are raising issues about community clubs not having time to get there after matches. I have coached a team since under 8s now going into u13s. I can’t think of one game that would have meant we couldn’t get to a home game at 3. Sunday’s give a chance to go en masse as a team which has been really good when we’ve done it. I guess if the coaches are at Rochdale or Oldham clubs that the reds link in with then it is a trek but kick offs are never after 1130 so really can’t see it being a big problem

I have always preferred Sunday, not so much of a rush. I have always said why do they not do The Wigan, Warrington, St Helens fixtures on Friday nights & all the rest on Sunday. We need income & we are more likely to attract more by playing on Sunday with fans travelling from Yorkshire. Don't forget over the last two years we have lost the income of Leigh & now Widnes & replaced with London not going to generate added income, so fully support Sunday matches.

I prefer Sundays and the effect on corporate deals will have been considered. One of the arguments, previously, has been the shorter turn round time if we’re also playing the following Friday

One of the arguments, previously, has been the shorter turn round time if we’re also playing the following Friday I think the main issue is related to the turnaround. Friday involves fewer day changes - 50-50 chance of being on Friday if the game on TV. If we are away on TV on a Thursday then I would imagine the coaching team will want the Sunday game moving back a day or two. So will be interesting to see how many games end up on a Sunday. Another reason to ditch Thursday night games which we universally unpopular with fans and clubs

Have long said that if the club had any decent sales force they could get each game sponsored.
Sundays attract a more nuclear family audience so companies will see it as a bigger opportunity to promote their product.
There should be a cross promotion with the Chav Centre, finally get First bus invested in a decent specific link to the game.
