I thought Flash played well in the pivot roles when he had to. What chance put him in hooker, wood at SH and Lui at SO? Nial back at FB. Littlejohn or shorrocks on my the bench for Huddersfield?

Waited till this morning to watch it again. We're not too far away, yet again inept officiating at crucial times cost us. Kevin Browns elbow to Lui, ignored, Kevin Brown knock on, Westwood swinging arm to Sau’s head, forward passes galore. Littlejohn did more than he gets credit for but I think we’re all keen to see how we do with Lui & Shorrocks in the halves and Niall at FB. On to Shudds next week. Players put their bodyies on the line playing 3 games in 9 days, coaches risk their jobs because it’s a results business but it comes down to the INcompetence of the man in the middle. Typo corrected. Had forgotten about the dirty tactics, Brown is just a dog who deserves all that he gets, but sadly as he appeared to be protected he gets nothing in return.

Personally I think it was the wrong decision to play Lui at fullback as he's our main creative spark and by moving him away from the middle of play you're asking a lot of Littlejohn and Shorrocks. I'll give Shorrocks the benefit of the doubt, but Littlejohn again looked very average. In saying that, his kicking game improved in the 2nd half but we haven't managed to replace Dobson in that position.
I think Olpherts has come in for a bit too much scrutiny; I like how he runs the ball and spins in to the tackle, often leaving the opposition on the floor when he's already played the ball. His defence needs to improve and it was concerning how often he came off his wing to help out the Centre. Welham does the same on the opposite flank a lot, so maybe it's something Watto has asked them to do? With a run of games under his belt I can see him improving.
Bibby should have just dived on the ball to score a try but someone made a dogs dinner of it.
Ben Westwood should have been off, don't think it was even put on report was it? I know Sa'u was dipping in to the tackle but Westwood clearly knew what he was doing. Total thug.
It could have been worse, Warrington should have been out of sight by halftime but fair play to the lads - they dug in and made a game of it. Didn't expect a win but we really need to start picking points up from the teams in and around the bottom 4, otherwise the Middle 8's are going to be daunting with some really strong Championship teams in the mix this season.

Don't agree with your description of Brown but that's bye the bye.But what I do think is he was a bigger threat than anything we had.And like I have said elsewhere Warrington will win as much as us.If they had been any good with the ball they had they should of put 40 past us.

I know it was Shorrocks first game in a new team but, dont think he's got that magic thing and looks to small. But willing to be proven wrong.
This thing about the wingers coming in, Why don't we just play man on man marking with a second rower and loose forward coming over as defensive cover on the side the opposition are attacking, winger could stay on his wing out wide

I was at the match but I’ve now watched it on Sky. Funny how it focuses your opinion. Littlejohn was not as bad as I thought,so apologies to him for that. He did stay involved and it also exposed his limitations. He is a grafter but has zero flair. Olpherts,in only his second or third Superleague game ,really put a shift in. Inexperience caused him to knock the ball down on the final tackle and he also knocked on once. O’Connor made clear that, because Sa’u goes inside, the winger has to follow him,so can’t really fault him on that. BUT, we played with 12 men. Shorrocks was absent. He’s the guy with the flair that JLJ lacks but looked as though it was a practice session. Didn’t dirty his kit. Worse than I thought. Ok,a kid coming back from injury but just not at it,at all. Watching it,even more hinged on the Bibby miss and the Brown knock on.

I've only seen the game live and not watched it back on TV yet but I though Littlejohn didn't have too much of a bad game. Last couple of years people questioned Dobson and what he did and that was the 'general' on the pitch who organised all around him and directed the team how it needed to be. This allowed Lui to be the creative player which worked well. Unfortunately, JLJ hasn't hit the straps yet for whatever reason but he did seem improved on the start in filling that void left by Dobson. The trouble is who else is there about that can fill that position either within the team or in super league / top half of the championship that would be available. The only one that comes to my mind is Matty Smith and after the abuse he got last year when we played them i'm not surprised really to hear he's not keen to come back. Shorrocks was very poor. For someone who is looking to play himself back in to the shop window I didn't see anything at all that encourages me and makes me think he will add to our squad.
I'd have given flash the 6 role on Saturday, kept Lui in the halves and got him controlling the game a bit more and dropped Weller to 13. Trouble is we are severely exposed now at FB so I can understand why Watson put Lui at 1 but was not the right decision at all. Just shows how important a youth setup is and what we are desperately missing off the field where we could bring in a youngster playing in his natural position in. This will be our Achilles heel for many years to come as that stream of youth we have seen come through over the past 10 years is no longer there.
Orphetts really annoyed me at the time with his continuation coming in from the wing and leaving Charnley open and you have to question his positioning skills if that is his natural position but in hindsight we seem to struggle with this as Carney was just as bad and this is much a Centre, second row problem as well on that side with them ultimately not working on the same page.
Watson and Sheens set out to have wingers and centres be types of players who do graft and not the flash stuff and this is why we are now suffering because we haven't replaced the quality that we had in our system over the past couple of years with a similar strength of players. So the system is broken and it seems we don't know how to play any other style of rugby which is why teams know how to shut us down because we cant offer an alternative.

Got to be honest Ayresrock and think you're spot on with the lack of a plan B, for me throw the play book out of the window and just go off the cuff.
