Talk in the Perpignan newspaper L’ Independant that we are discussing with Catalans and Ricki Willby the possibility of playing a match in June in New York It would entail moving our Easter game to June and would be our home game Huddersfield are against it,because they play Catalans on Easter Monday and think they will gain an advantage by not playing Good Friday.

Pretty sure there'll be some good publicity and renumeration involved in this so not a bad idea.
Cant see a huge travelling support but maybe a few will go.

If any renumeration for taking game on the road to New York pays for a much needed back line reinforcement then it must be a no brainer.

Can't believe people are getting behind this, sums the sport up at the minute. Concentrating on expansion in USA whilst clubs like us are dying off the pitch.
People have plans for Good Friday the game is in a matter of weeks, we had family coming over from Spain for the weekend who are former season ticket holders who were coming to the game and I am sure many others will have their plans scuppered.
The idea of a beano to NYC might sound brilliant to some but I think this will infuriate a lot of other supporters.
What about the ones who have purchased a season ticket? Thank god I didn't get one, the way this sport is going I won't be watching it at all next season.

This is going to cause total polarisation, some will think it's a wonderful idea while others will decry the loss of a traditional holiday fixture.
For me if the club make good money out of it then brilliant.
Think the RFL/SL need to look at each club taking a game on the road each season, maybe not as far as NY or Woolongong but say Europe. Still maintain if there was a SL team in Dublin it would get tremendous crowds.

Think if they are going to do this they should plan it for next season, it’s too late notice now surely. What about any Catalans fans who have already booked travel etc? Not really fair. Wouldn’t mind a trip to NY next year though!!

If it makes money for the club, great. Don't be fooled by the sham of an organisation that is the RFL, we'll end up making a pittance.
It would be great later in the season with more planning but as MR says it's the loss of a traditional holiday fixture at less than 2 months notice.

The one time the South Stand was full to capacity was last year on Good Friday so yeah the club are gonna lose out on what is traditionally a bigger crowd than normal. Surely they will have to compensate for quite a lot if it was moved, also glad I didn't get a season ticket pay £250 and then get messed about like this. Also would the fans get their flights subsidised? Toronto do it for fans in the Championship - a mate who is a Swinetown fan is going over and it has cost him £700 for 10 days there all in, not bad!

Thank god I didn't get one, the way this sport is going I won't be watching it at all next season. I am glad someone else thinks like I do! This again will push the game at grass roots further down the pecking order if true, this latest project is not about Salford being part of the click? It is more about making the game a world spectacular for Sky with no supporters. Toronto, Catalans, London, Toulouse & New York to name a few, it will not include Swinton, Salford, Widnes or Leigh! Just look what has happened to the game since Super league started, soon I am afraid we will be joining that club of clubs being left behind. When Nigel Wood reportedly receives his fat cheque for services rendered & with the game bleeding away at grass roots, it tells me all I need to know about the games future, they do not care. Sorry for producing such a negative outcome for the future.

One step closer to being shunted out of SL in favour of an 'expansion' club.
No thanks.

The timing of this stinks. Surely it's too late for this season? If this has been in the pipeline why the hell haven't they announced it before now? Well that's good Friday's plans out the window 😡 Feel sorry for the Catalan hardcore who will no doubt be out of pocket.

If they can Good Friday at home and move it to NY, I'm afraid I'll be requesting a partial refund on my 5 season tickets. Could this sport become any more of a laughing stock? Absolute shambles from top to bottom.

No problem with a game in New York involving Salford but it has to be properly thought through and planned before the start of the season. To try and change the Easter programme at this late stage is ludicrous. Is it the interim CEOs pitch for the top job. To continue the American connection, wasn’t Ralph one of the Muppets?
