I don’t mind the new badge given the traditional look of it and I much prefer it to its predecessor.
I still think it could have been better though and I’m not convinced by the lines although appreciate their meaning. I would have preferred obvious symbols. I agree that the old style devil should have been the focal point with perhaps the tree in a background quarter.
I also think the club missed a trick by not having the Red Rose of Lancs in one of the background quarters. Salfordians I presume would have approved given the historic identity and also 5 times lancs cup winners. Furthermore this would have been a good subtle marketing ploy to encourage fans from the wider county. Man City put the red rose back on their badge for ‘traditional’ reasons but I firmly believe it was a marketing ploy to tap into lancs towns to the north of Manchester - it has worked as I see more City shirts (unfortunately for my football team) in these pastures than ever before.

Got to love a bit of hysteria Understandable really given a photo has just appeared on twitter and instagram purporting to be Greg Johnston in a Hull KR training top! It has seemingly come from his own instagram account. Hopefully it's a joke and 'fake news.'

He didn't present as somebody who was leaving when he gave his speech at the players awards presentation last night. But like everybody else I heard what Brian Carney said.
For those who are interested he said in his speech that he had 'never had any intention of changing the name' - i was a bit sceptical about that statement! He also said the management consultant company had recommended a rebrand but he rejected it. He also said only a few weeks ago he rejected a big financial incentive to relocate the club to another city.
Re the fans he said there aren't many but what there is are the most passionate in Rugby League.
Side tracking a bit i also thought Manu spoke really well - was talking about looking forward to returning next season

MK has also tweeted that he has seen and approved the new badge - he says the fans will love it as 'Salford' is on it!
Great news announced tonight. Said I wasn't going again this season but after tonight's announcement I am hopefully now going tomorrow and getting a season ticket too.

I also concur that something isn't right in the camp. Fatigue shouldn't really be an excuse having had 2 weeks off. We made Wakefield, who I don't think are particularly great, look like world beaters.
I also feel something isn't right with the club as well. I've had some great times going to the games this season but Friday was awful. Even pre match the usual atmosphere in and around the ground was lacking. I'm not sure about moving the fans tent out of the way - I get that it's better for kids to play on the Astro turf - however it didn't seem right.
Went into the ground about 25 minutes before kick off and you could hear a pin drop - there was no pre match music on - to quote the announcer 'the cd collection is lost.'
The pint of Guinness I got from inside the ground for the first half was undrinkable - it tasted like diesel! The pint of John Smiths I got for the second half was also undrinkable and stunk! I've been to some of worst football grounds in the country over the years but at least they had beer that was drinkable!
All in all not a great couple of hours! MK can moan all he wants about crowds but £25 in the West Stand wasn't great value on this occasion.
I brought a couple of lapsed Salford fans with me for their first trip to the AJ Bell having met them on holiday earlier in the year. I spent the entire time saying the rugby and overall experience is usually a lot better than this! Not a great advert all round.
Anyway take the rough with the smooth (not the pint served up on Friday!), been a brilliant season with great memories, so glad I discovered SLRFC, back in 2018 (if there isn't a ridiculous rebrand)

When are the season ticket prices for the next season usually announced?
Having had such a really enjoyable time attending a number of games this season I am intending on getting one for the first time for me and my lad. However we won't be getting them if the name change happens.
I think for the sake of fairness to the fans, the club need to make an announcement either way re name change issue before selling season tickets. I also think there could be legal issues if the club 'misrepresented' as Salford when selling season tickets and then subsequently changed the name.
I know bringing up the name change issue in this thread may seem a negative but I need to know before parting with my cash; these things aren't cheap and I already pay for a season ticket with my football team. An announcement putting this name change nonsense to bed would seal the deal!

MK has tonight referred to Powell as a coward on twitter; it's slightly upset the Wigan fans!

Off topic but it's been discussed earlier. I think we'll easily get 5k for Leeds on Sunday, we pulled in a crowd of 4900 last season and Leeds brought a poor following by their standards. This year we've got a top 4 clash, 2nd v 3rd to be precise and the weather looks just as good as last weekend against Huddesfield. I feel we'll achieve over 5.5k we may see our first 6k+ crowd in a while on Sunday. Does anyone know how many times we've achieved 6k+ whilst being at the AJ Bell out of curiousity? It must only be 4-5 times. Where's Salford Paul and Paul Whiteside? Limited tickets left in hospitality and 1873 club too which is a good sign

I took my 4 year old lad today and he absolutely loved it. I treated him to his first Salford top and he is still wearing it with pride. He also loved playing rugby with other kids near the marquee after the game. Great performance and fantastic day. Likewise tickets purchased for next Sunday too. I noticed a lot of kids there today which is a good thing and shows the future is bright for the club. On a side note can anybody assist? What is the name of the song that comes on after the game - indie rock song about the club. It's a catchy number and I can't find it on YouTube! Might be wrong, but I think it's by a band named Cinnamon Dinner. It is Cinnamon Dinner. Appreciated cheers

What a day and what 40 mins from 20-60!!! Anyway tickets for next Sunday purchased as well!! Lots of kids there today which was nice to see. Was there some sort of deal on? Anybody know what the current sales are as I know it was going well in the early days of ticket sales as I'm quite sure if we can get a good crowd no matter how mighty Wigan are, I`m quite sure we can intimidate them and get behind our own I read on twitter we had sold 2,600 by Friday afternoon. I happened to be working in the area today so nipped to the AJ Bell to buy and collect tickets. I asked about semi final sales and whilst the lady didn't know a figure, she said they had got an extra allocation of terrace tickets and that there were plenty of tickets left in the seating area.

I do wonder if there on any level is unease from the players about the name change/no name change? I believe you raise a valid point. In any team sport (whether it be Rugby League, football, cricket) it is extremely rare to see the team in the dressing room after singing the club anthem of the fans. Maybe a generic celebration song but not the fans terrace song. It's been very pleasing and refreshing to see our players singing 'Salford Reds arising' in the dressing a few times this season after epic wins. Does that tell us something? I happened to meet a player's dad (I won't name him) in the 1873 Club at the Hull game as he joined us on our table at half time. The name change rumour was brought up in conversation. He was certainly hoping it wouldn't happen so maybe gives an indication how his son feels.

Taken from the Wigan Website " Wigan Warriors will travel to Halliwell Jones Stadium to face Salford Red Devils in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Semi Final on Sunday 30 July, 2:30pm kick off. Wigan Warriors have received an initial allocation of tickets for the North Stand, East Stand and South Terrace. Tickets start from £20 for adults, £15 for concessions and £10 for juniors . Season Ticket holders will be eligible for a special discount of £3 for adults, £2 for concessions and £1 for juniors. Concessions are over 65’s, serving military (with valid ID) and students (with valid ID). Juniors are all those under the age of 16 with under 2’s going free (with a ticket). Read more at www.wiganwarriors.com/news/2017-06-19-cup-semi-final-ticket-details#ZkCFg10LAiapXWpO.99Seems like we've just been been allocated the West stand normally reserve for away fans . The stadium plan on the Wigan link suggests we have been allocated the west stand and half of the north stand (seating). I just hope the people of Salford and beyond turn out fur this. I hope those 4,000 tickets are snapped up quickly to send a message to MK and the wider Rugby League world that we do have a credible support base. It is arguably one of the biggest games in Salfords history particularly for 'political' reasons - a good turnout from the fans and / or a win may just prevent a rebrand (I appreciate that's a discussion for the rebrand topic) For what it's worth a few from my part of the world who I have introduced to the club have all expressed an interest in coming to this game. I also met a lapsed fan whilst on my hols a couple of weeks ago from Astley, he hasn't been since the Willows days, spoke to him yesterday and he seemed keen to make his return for this game. So fingers crossed the interest is there.

I think we have some fantastic players but I personally think the best player is Dobson. Such an intelligent player and his kicking game is top class. I took a few to the game last night who had never been before and all commented how good he is. When he is on fire the team plays well - I thought he was below par against Hull and this was reflected in the overall team performance.

MK has said tonight on twitter that only 57 matchday tickets have been sold thus far on Friday. I really hope that increases substantially. I've queried whether this also includes hospitality and VIP. I've bought 4 in VIP for Friday. I've seen the rumour on here that hospitality and VIP aren't counted towards the official attendance figure - hospitality and VIP seemed really packed against Catalans. Indeed I was shocked at the crowd being under 5k as looked to be another 1000.
It is a paradoxical situation to my football club Blackburn Rovers. In the official attendance figure all season tickets are counted even if person does not attend. Plus a few phantom season tickets! A few times last season the real crowd (police figures) was sub 8,000 but official announced attendance was always over 10,000. The club try and create the facade that attendances are holding up.
I almost query if there is the opposite facade at Salford RLFC? Most other clubs in Rugby League, football and cricket base their official attendance on advance sales and not people through turnstiles. I was at Wigan away a few weeks ago - official attendance was 12,000 - never in a million years were there 12k in that ground.
