I am a first time season ticket holder with my 2 kids. Opted for the direct debit scheme. Was told the first payment would be taken on 1st November and this is the date referred to on the website FAQ’s. I haven’t had a payment taken yet. Just wondered if anybody else on here who is paying by DD has had a payment taken yet? I emailed the club and needless to say haven’t had a reply.

I think the other thing to consider with Lui is his family. I am pretty sure one of his children suffers from autism or something of the like. I remember an interview with Lui in which he stated his child had settled at a really good specialist school in Salford after having issues at other schools. I can’t imagine Lui will want to unsettle this by moving to a completely different part of the world.

Shame about this. Myself, a couple of mates and all of our collective kids were meant to be coming to this. In total 7 kids aged 4-7, most of whom had never been to a Rugby League game before. None of us will now be coming given it’s a Thursday night. That’s 10 off the attendance and a number of young kids not being exposed to Rugby League. The RFL wonder why crowds are down! I feel like writing to the RFL but but know it will fall on deaf ears.

I watched it earlier and concur. I also think Hastings dropped the biggest hint yet in this interview that he could be with us next season. He was very non committal in the bbc north west tonight interview . However there was a bit more in this one. He said words to the effect that there is a good chance he will be in super league next season and how he benefits from the particular players around him such as Lui etc. It’s the latter point I took hope from.

Really surprised (well not really surprised at all) that the club aren’t doing more to market such a big game. International football weekend, won the last 4 having just pulmorised Halifax, great players such as Hastings - where is the publicity?!
I thought the club might have done a cheap deal for this game to get the casual fans to attend - send a positive message to Hastings and the sky audience.
Anyway I’ve got 3 extra coming with myself given our football team aren’t playing. I guess it’s down to the fans to do the marketing - as always seems to be the case with this club - to try and convince extra friends and family to attend.

I wasn’t going to waste my money on coming tonight after the gutless performance I witnessed at Leigh. The debacle at the Magic Weekend reaffirmed this and I agreed to take my 7 year old daughter for a meal tonight. Then the mid week rallying call happened! Sod it - change of plan - she can have a pie at half time instead!

Looking forward to this one tonight and a few beers in Leigh before hand. I really hope the team put in a performance. I have never got the attitude of ‘let’s concentrate on the league’ in any sport. We have been getting stuffed and haven’t really competed against any of the top 6 in the league (bar Hull) since July last year; I can’t see how a cup run is going to make that any worse. Will we take many fans tonight? Or is there a bit of apathy towards the cup this season amongst our fanbase?

I’ve said it before on here and I will say it again. As well as taking an intensive approach in Salford (which the club are attempting to do on a commendable basis) they also need to take an extensive approach into the surrounding areas. I have never heard anybody say a bad word about Rugby League. Equally not many people where I live have been to a game and their exposure to it is limited to the TV. Or may have been to the odd Wigan game. I’ve taken a few over the last 12 months to watch Salford, most have enjoyed and several consider themselves Salford fans now. Salford is the local super league team for a catchment area of a few million! It is my local team (top 3 divisions) geographically in Darwen. As it is for Manchester, and the Lancashire towns north of Manchester as far east as Burnley. However I have to tell people this as the local team is wrongly assumed to be Wigan! Salford are almost forgotten about and incorrectly and annoyingly perceived by many where I live as a Manchester suburb. I have to tell them it is it’s own proud city and the ground is less than 20 miles away! The club are missing a trick here by not selling themselves in this vast catchment area. Now I appreciate the died in the wool Salfordian might not want an influx of “outsiders” but the club needs to improve on the current crowds. This would be one way of doing it by selling and promoting in the areas mentioned.

There were many talking points from that game including some very questionable refereeing decisions and also some ill discipline in the 2nd half by us. However the real turning point for me was the ridiculous penalty Olpherts gave away when he stepped in front of their chasing player. Why did he do it? Evalds had dealt with that high ball all game and indeed caught the ball on that occasion. They went into the lead straight from that and we didn’t get a look in for the next 10 minutes. I firmly believe we would have won but for that. Just a stupid thing to do, same as you think that was the game changing moment. In his defence though do think he actually scored a try, incredibly odd VR decision to turn it down. Completely agree - there was no proof whatsoever to overturn the try decision. I’m also at a loss as to how he was adjudged to have given his first penalty away. I think Olpherts looks a bright prospect but all his positives tonight were undone by that stupid obstruction.

Parked for free directly outside Castle in the Air Wetherspoons at Chill Factore, pint and tea in there, 20 min walk to the ground. First visit to this spoons but there were a few Salford and Wigan fans in, plus a couple of framed signed Salford shirts on display. Avoided congestion after.

Lui’s Mrs has posted on Facebook pleading with the club to sell him. Her post has been confirmed on twitter by journo Gary Carter. Not a good sign.

I wanted to get my 4 year old lad the away shirt as a Christmas present. Went to order online and that age range are ‘out of stock’. Not good to be out of stock of kids sizes a week before Christmas and they haven’t even gone on sale yet as such! I tweeted the Club and Steeden to enquire about this - no reply! The money has now gone on our football teams away kit as he wanted a kit for Xmas! It’s as though they don’t want the custom?
