After the Wigan game the Friday before I was so looking forward to the final and thought we had a fighters chance. The way we defended against Wigan and the fact that we should have beaten Saints at their place (Apart from a dodgy refereeing decision) I really thought we could possibly do it. I really enjoyed seeing our boys come out to contest a Grand Final at Old York Trafford, the pinnacle of British Rugby League. Within about 10 minutes of the start I knew we didn't have a hope in hell due to the officiating. It left me with a very hollow feeling inside that we weren't even given a chance by Chris Kendall. It wasn't because the Salford players didn't give everything as they were fantastic. Imagine if Salford had been given the decisions Saints were given. In the period before half time we scored two tries one of which was ruled out without going to the video ref. Why,when it's such an important game and the Wembley no try debacle? Saints were offside at nearly every play the ball, third man in putting hands on top of tackled players to slow the game down, a head shot on Evalds and a headbutt to a player on the ground.Nothing punished. This isn't an attack on Saints who have been magnificent all season but an attack on the Rugby League and the officiating of our show piece event. Very proud of being a Salford fan this year and thank you to all the Players, Coaches and Staff for a wonderful year What I don't get is. It's the League,s fault.Yes it's their fault they have only got a few referee,s.But it was Kendals fault when they crossed the whitewash.I would go as far as to say, that if we were lucky enough to go back next season the same thing will happen again.what we got on Saturday I expect just not so blatant. You have to feel sorry for the players, if we feel bad how do they feel.

According to Fox Sports, Hastings happy and settled in England and not chasing to get back to Oz, even tho he has a get-out clause after one year of his contract. So the story rumbles on. If the call does not come he can say he didn't want go to anyway.

I Know we have talked about this on another thread. So please excuse me for starting another one. Reading the letters in today's league express from supporters from other clubs. At least five are about the performance of the so called referee. For those who did not get a copy,at least to go as far to sujest that we were never in with a chance from the start. That through his bias Mr Kendal saw to it we did not have a chance. The feeling of those who commented, was that every 50 / 50 decision went saints way. One even went as far as to sujest Saints first try should have been ruled out because under the present law Farge was offside, and that Lolohea's try should have stood. Also the head but on the Salford player should have been punished. I know some on the forum probably think, some go on to much about reffees so I will refer to Josh Jones. When asked about Chris Kendal. I don't want to comment on what I think about the feferee I will get into trouble. Even the players thought what some of us thought.

I am speaking as someone who as to sit.I have stood in the shed at the Willows for many years also at OT and Main Rd when their was 60.000 in the ground.Yes we probably all like to stand. We all know why seating was brought in.And we all know what the law is. I think they should now look at safe standing areas again.I think their is less consideration for others now a days in general.I have even seen adults stood up and the child stood along side not seeing anything.

Bang on. Need to change our groups seat location when we’re there again next year, because the same numpties will still be standing and throwing beer bottles. No chance of the stewards taking on the whole of the East end It happens at Barton not standing up but jumping up you can be up and down like a yo yo its OK but not if you have difficulty getting up and down. If you say anything you just get abuse.

You have got it spot on Paul I would just like to say a big thank you to Ian Watson and the boys. For creating the lasting memories that I take from this past season.I know I go on about the great seventies side, and yes they were wonderful to watch, But I have to say I have got as much pleasure from watching this squad and what they have achieved this year that will go in the memory bank for ever. They are a credit to the club and the city. Ps I think it will do wonders for Ian to be involved with the international set up,and it can only help us. I am not going to say I can't wait for next season, when you get to a certain age you want time to go a little slower.Have a good close season.

There's not a whole lot I can add on what's already been said, but here's a few thoughts: - Massive effort from us, I don't think there was a whole lot more we could have done. And fair play to Saints, top class team and deserved it in the end. The ref was garbage, but even if we had say scored another 3 tries or whatever, I always felt Saints could pull something special out of the bag at any given moment. - Great turnout in the Salford end. - The whole thing was a bit surreal overall. It's a day I'll never forget for sure. Lemmy That's one thing I never thought last night that Saints had something in reserve they had to play last night. And play as well as they could.Just my opinion.

Please can we talk about Salford rather than the referee? We are talking about the game last night. But kendal was intertwined with it. Did he change the outcome no.Did he help Saints along yes. We have all expressed our admiration of the way the team performed last night. They were outstanding to a man.All you ask is for inparciality we did not get it.Yes we have talked about the team the Red Devils. Its a pity Kendal didn't give them a fair crack of the wip.

Let's face it our ball retention wasn't the best BUT if we want a top class comp seen around the world we need top class officials. Kendal was completely out of his depth and did a Childs, gave little penalties around the ruck and missed shoulder charges head butts ball stealing continual off side. Just not up to it. So if we want to be a world class sport import some top class refs from Oz to officiate the big games. Don't blame Kendal, sadly he is the apprentice, completely out of his depth. But the few hundred thousand pounds we got out of it will enable us to survive another season, assuming Brown & Lolohea come off. That's the problem all these so called new breed are the same. Yes Kendal was out of is depth he is not on is own In my opinion he refereed with fear he could not be seen to have assisted the underdog in anyway that why all the fifty fifty desisions went their way the Lolohea try they would have got or it would have gone to the screen. Kendal and his mates will kill the game if they are not careful. Now what we should be talking about the game. The best team won of that their is no question. But we should all be proud of the team they never give up they tackled their hearts out.The only down side for me was that I thought we should have varied our kicking game a bit.Now let's hope some who were there tonight cary on next season.Yes we lost but wasn't it great being part of it all.

Kenny Gill the best for me. Followed by Ken Richards and Nei Baker Kenny Gill didn't need legs with the players he had around him. The best I ever saw. Alex Murphy.
