It’s fucking embarrassing Sky wheel our losing coach out at the end of the broadcast and he’s taking about Leigh for 3-4 mins, **** Leigh. Not as embarrassing as this post.

I’ve just watched the Super League Show. I didn’t realise at the time but when Ben Thaler penalises us for dissent at the end of the game he moves ten metres down the field to give Leigh a shot at goal - but he wasn’t at the point on the pitch where the first offence was committed- so he actually gave Leigh their second penalty some twenty metres from where the first offence took place, making the kick much easier. It was a penalty for off side so the pen is given where the defensive line was. That’s where Thaler gave it from. Then the 10m for the dissent

If Lafai knocked on then why did we get the feed at the resultant scrum? In other words the officials were wrong to disallow the try. Because it was a knock on each way. Leigh first so our scrum. Touch judge gave it so was a slight delay. Thaler clearly signalled it on the pitch. Couldn’t believe the controversy about it on the day or since. Hard to see on video if it came off his head or his upper body but they get given as double knock 99 times out of 100. With a video ref it could have been reviewed (and I am a big believer that BR should be at every game) but if TJ was certain it might have been stopped anyway and if it was sent up as no try it might not have been clear enough to over rule. Can clearly see it comes off Leigh player into Lafai and forward from there

On a more positive note, the off field was great today.
Live music from an excellent stage in the sun with lots of people sat on grass and picnic tables, the cannon fire, the marching band playing Dirty Old Town at half time and the record crowd. We need to keep that effort up. Big up to the club for that

Kicking game today was very very poor. Worst of the season in my view.
I am also not sure we had a specific game plan. If we did we definitely didn’t execute it. If we did have no idea what it was.
Normally even when we lose you can see what we were trying to do and can see the areas we were targeting but not today. We played much more direct in the first half with less lateral movement which seemed to be working in terms of making fewer errors but meant we made few yards. We seemed to be have success down our left with Stone and Lafai making metres every time but we didn’t seem to have a plan to kept doing it. And we had no idea what to do on last plays all game. No real attempt to build pressure or keep them in their half. Can’t remember the last time we gave Field 20m space every time he caught the ball.
Wigan game plan was very simple and effective. Kick early. Keep us in our half and capitalise on the errors everyone knows we will make. Smiths kicking game was excellent. At 6-4 up we should have gone on to dominate the game but never did.
Was always a big ask with ackers and Croft missing, then losing Brierley. But not sure the loss can be attributed to that. Borouh had his best game for us. Atkin had some very good moments. Sio didn’t put a foot wrong. But with less chance of scoring from deep we needed to try and squeeze Wigan and never did

Suspect Atkin will be starting at half back for Croft with Addy sharing hooking duties with Borouh?
Playing Wigan without Ackers and Croft feels like a tall order!

Don’t really understand the anger aimed at Matthew Shaw. Journos job is to ask difficult questions not just publish good news stories that clubs want out there. One of the reasons rugby league is in such a state is that trade journalists don’t ask enough tough questions about the commercial and business elements of the clubs and governing body.

No excuse for that performance today. Not good enough. Poor in every department. KR didn’t play very well but were still far too good for us.

A 21 man squad hasn’t been that common this year. Can’t remember us ever having only one of first 13 missing and two of first 17! Let’s hope we have a similar position for rest of the season
Assuming all 21 are fit I think Williams, Addy, Dixon and Costello will miss out

Excellent initiative. Shows the value of a theme like ‘armed forces day’ to get other partners onboard

£200k now is hard to turn down but you’d prob be looking at an extra £50k a year wages at least for as good a prop to come in and hit the ground running. Probably more. So it soon gets eaten up. I am sure they will have tested the market to see if there were any serious alternatives
