An independent tribunal has fined Widnes a total of £2,500 for fielding 14 players on two occasions against Hull FC.
What does everyone make of this decision?
To put it in to context, Widnes were miles ahead when this happened. However, Salford were docked 2pts for doing this once during a tight game against Castleford last season.
I guess this plays straight in to MK's hands and demonstrates a lack of consistency from the RFL, but on the other hand they were up by 40 points when it happened. We weren't. It's a tricky one.

The argument fails. If a player is dismissed for punching an opponent,it is irrelevant how much damage is done. A punch is a punch. You are correct to say that the lack of consistency is quite frankly disturbing. One really has to ponder as to whether The RFL really do have it in for Salford or its owner.

If it's an offence it's an offence regardless of the scoreline. The RFL really doesn't do itself any favours with the total inconsistency, surely something like this should be black and white. To do it twice in one game leads you to think it was more than accidental.

They're just taking the piss now. I'm convinced all the decisions are made by using a big spinning wheel. Wheel of misfortune.

We didn't get a points deduction originally, only after we appealed.
We were originally fined £10k though, 4 times more than Widnes for half the 'crime'. That was reduced to £5k after the appeal, along with the points deduction.
Something going wrong there any way you look at it!

I read what I could on forums as well as articles and it is fascinating the lengths people are willing to go to explain why one decision can be so different from another when they're the same offence. The same people also chanted "rules are rules" when it came to salary cap and SRD! Funny that? While we don't have a fixed penalty for each offence they'll always be sneaking suspicions funny things are happening and favouritism and bias are at work!
