I thought we played pretty well today.
Littlejohn is a different style of halfback to Dobson... loves a tackle, loves to get stuck in and won't be targeted as much by the opposition because of his size. He got the MOTM award and I can't really argue with that. I thought Olpherts looked great when he came on in the 2nd half - maybe we've unearthed another gem like we did with Kris Brinning? He played in the same mould as Mason Caton-Brown. I was particularly impressed with Josh Wood who was the starting Hooker today. He made a lot more runs from dummy half than usual and Swinton didn't know how to deal with him. The other new signings were pretty good too in the limited time they had on the field. Bennion seemed to injure himself but managed to play on. Also +2000 people there according to the official attendance - great effort considering it was absolutely fecking freezing!!

I agree BGM. Pretty pleased with our performance against a young, enthusiastic team. Obviously there's a gulf in class between the teams but you can only beat what's in front of you, which we did.
I thought all the new lads showed up well. I was excited to see Olpherts play after watching his highlights reel and he didn't disappoint - quick, strong, has a good step, will definitely break through a few lines this season. Looked a little suspect under high ball but that will improve with experience. Bags of potential.
Liked the look of Littlejohn, reminds me a bit of Daniel Holdsworth (let's hope more consistent). He and O'Brien seem to be linking up pretty well already, be interesting to see how this develops and what the long term plan is, as I feel Lui adds that bit of X factor therefore needs to be on the field.
Levy, Nakubuwai and Bennion look good signings that will only improve with the help of Lama, Mossop, Weller, Koppy etc. We might've lost the size of BMM but definitely don't look lightweight in the forwards by any stretch!
The fact that we'll have Flash and Brinning still to return to the team is a massive positive for the start of the season. Brinning needs to be starting hooker for me, Tomkins works hard but Brinning gets us on the front foot more consistently and has better distribution.
A much bigger test coming against Wire, which will give us abetter indication of where we're up to but today was a positive start. Bring on the Wankies.

Don't forget we also have Burgess to return who will add even more steel to the pack!
I'd say the game was a good run out for the team! I remember last season's firstvgame and we ended up losing about 3 players with injury so hopefully all are ok! Step up again with the Warrington game next week ready for the big one against Wigan! All in all was impressed with the squad and even when we made all the changes whilst we were disjointed there didn't seem to be any weak links

Promising in a word. Forwards look good and I agree Wood very impressive. New guys showed potential and flashes friends m Evalds and Johnson I feel we have options this season but that all depends on injuries. Time will tell

endorse everything that has been said, was impressed with all the new signing, Littlejohn missed a tackle just before coming off, he was so angry with himself for missing the tackle, I liked that.
The biggest single plus for me was the crowed plus of 2000, I also parked on the stadium car-park as I did not anticipate as many being at the game, got off the car park straight after the match, they had coned off one side of the road, which allowed the traffic to flow out at the end without being help up. well done to the club, some positives on & off the field yesterday.

How can i get a re run or highlights of this match? Also i was thinking the club should be renting or selling there own copies of footage they have recorded for every game to generate some good easy income.

Also i was thinking the club should be renting or selling there own copies of footage they have recorded for every game to generate some good easy income. I was thinking the same. Surely the club were filming the game? On the DITD podcast they had commentary highlights that were for "Red Devils Tv" (or something like that) so there must be some highlights somewhere. There were some nice tries as I remember so it might be a good idea to get them posted up and get some buzz going.

Thought we played well against Swinton, solid professional performance, and no injuries! We'll get a better indication of where we are when we play Warrington at the weekend.
