Not really. Alker was once a great player for Salford and unfortunately his demise is a great shame, however 4 yrs for an armed robber is the only sad part as I feel the sentence was not long enough. Hopefully he will have time to reflect and get the support he needs in turning his life around.

Pointless debating the length of the sentence. It’s just incredibly sad

Perhaps Paul Highton in his new role can get him some help. Seems as tho he's a coke addict owed money and couldn't pay.

A really nice fella, throughout his career and even afterwards as he fell into a hole. I met him a few times as his life fell apart .... He even offered me all of his RL memorabilia. It could happen to any of us. The reasonse for his demise probably aren't known to any of us, but no doubt we can hazard a guess or offer an opinion. A terrible shame should this happen to any fella, whether you are an established sportsman or simply Joe Public. His sentence is completely justified, following the transgressions. Good luck to Malc, I honestly hope he can put this sorry episode behind him in due course.

As has been said on the other thread I really hope the club do help him out, he’s been let down massively in the past. Deserves his time but also deserves the opportunity to turn it round. Fingers crossed this is a mighty wake up call

I feel for his family, what I fail to see is how he's been let down?
He was a bully who caused issues with his treatment of youngsters, he should have been a roll model along with Stapleton et Al.
He's got quite a lenient sentence, when he gets out I hope the wider RL family help his reintegrate, I still say a Mal Alker with no issues is someone a Brining should be learning his trade from.
