With the new massive increase in the salary cap in the NRL I wonder if we'll see tie ins with NRL starting for individual SL teams.
They can see what prospects go like in full blooded competition while we over here get the chance of Joel Moon, BMM or Foran ;-) coming this way.

I think the second tier competitions in Australia are more or less the same standard as Super League, so whilst I'd love to see a few hungry young Aussies getting a shot over here I'm not sure I see what benefit it brings to the NRL clubs to ship their lads halfway around the World.

To give them the chance to make a name for themselves against professional teams and full international players in a league where teams play to a different type of game plan thus aiding in there development.

The rumour is that BMM is being tapped up by a host of NRL clubs, I will piss my sides if he sticks the Vs up to Wire and stays over there.

Tell you what from the bits I've seen of him at the world cup he's looking unstoppable, just hope he does go back to the NRL, I just can't see Warrington letting him go or him walking away (he just strikes me as being a decent lad with decent morals not a Segeyaro or Soward).
Can see Gary Lo coming under the same category as he's been one of the stars of the show, if only some forward thinking extremely knowledgeable Salford fan had spotted him before Castleford signed him and mentioned it.

Wonder what would happen if Ben did head to the NRL having not playing a game for Warrington but they sold him for more than they paid us?
Possible chance of extra compensation?

They own his contract. If an Aussie side offered a titanic amount it's Wires and nowt to do with us.

Unless there was a sell on clause in the contract like the round ball guys have.

Unless there was a sell on clause in the contract like the round ball guys have. Wouldn't that standard practice though? I'm no expert on contracts within RL so not sure if this part of football contracts has crossed over to other sports. It's by no means in every football contract either. It tends to be put into contracts by clubs that earn their cash by generating quality youngsters through their system. Years ago, I know Crewe Alexandra used to rely on its quality youth set-up to help bring funds into the club.
At a guess, I'd be surprised if it's crept into RL contracts at this stage.

I think it all depends on the negotiation and how the player is valued. RL is a can of worms and would probably be in for a young English player, like the Sneyd move, but I don't think a lot of the contracts have got too much further than the old back of a fag packet days. Also with Oz players going back they all suddenly get homesick or have family problems so I would think clubs get what they can for them. Look at the trouble Leeds and Castleford had last year getting their money for highly valued players.
Sadly as time goes on with the Oz finances getting bigger and if the game really does take off in Canada, the US and France, and with RU growing, I think we'll be in a very sorry state for players. Unless of course they get real with the salary cap to the detriment of some of the less wealthy teams, like us now!
