I bumped in to him in a pub in Salford two years ago and he was drinking alone and was in a really bad way he ended up breaking down to us it was heartbreaking to witness it was around the time he was reported missing. 

If he is found guilty he is a looking at a long time behind bars which is shattering for him and his family, just goes to show these blokes need help when their careers come to an end it obviously affects their mental state i.e Terry Newton and Danny Sculthorpe to name a few. 

Really sad to hear this. It reinforces what Tyrone McCarthy said in his Q&A that there needs to be better support for players after their rugby career has finished.

Shocking story and a very sad state of affairs. Gutted - Malc was my favourite player for the Reds. Its a really disappointing to read this.

I agree with the observations from the comments made. Hopefully he will get the support and guidance whilst in prison and hopefully be able to turn his life around.
