Well I may have been a little cheeky with the title but I just noticed Derek Beaumont posted this on twitter...
So it seems that we will run a joint reserve team next season.
Thoughts?

A step forward, perhaps to a joint team. I wouldn't mind that, at least we could compete long term.
Wonder who the coach will be and which style of play will it be? Perhaps we'll learn some new moves!

I can cope with a joint reserve team and academy, anything that can help us bring through younger players. All successful teams have a good youth setup, and if we have to join forces with Leigh, so be it. Hope this isn't a step towards any sort of future merger though, ugh , just wrong on so many levels.

Don't normally post a lot. But i think ?? This could be Leigh sort of staying in super league if they loose the so called Million pound game. I can see Marwan and Derek joining forces and becoming one team, under what name i have no idea. but as we will be the Super league team, So i can see it being called something like Salford centurions. Neither set of fans will be happy, but it could produce one super club, if the RFL allow it , which is another thing. But the money these two people could put into the game could be good. As to where we would play depends on what rent we are being charged by SMC. or what rites Leigh have on the sports village, i have no idea if they own or rent. so then it would come down to the cheapest i think. Also if it does become a joint team the funding would be there for younger teams and development for all age groups. But the fans of both clubs would have to gell, which i think would be a bigger problem than joining of both clubs. And that is my thought on the matter.

Will there be a joint Academy next year? Both clubs talk about having Cat 3 Academy.

Will be interesting to see what happens in the mpg.

I don't think we are paying much rent. The stadium company is not doing very well.

I don't like the idea of a merger between us and Leigh. Years back, I lived in Sydney, and I spent many happy hours heading up to watch the North Sydney Bears. The year after I left, the NRL allowed the merger with the Manly Sea-Eagles. The new team competed for a few years as the Northern Eagles and then reverted back to Manley. It really felt like a stitch up.
Salford has a proud history, like the Bears, and it shouldn't be swallowed up by a merger.
