Tonight's backline Bibby Ben MM Sau Vatuevei Wow BMM at centre? Now I like to see a versatile player but good God that's a stretch, I'd have used Lannon before him. Jones not playing then?

Well beaten at half back and hooker. Really missing Dobson.

What I couldn't understand is why we changed a winning team. Was Welham unfit? Welham broke his toe during captains run on thursday. In in regards to the game, I left the ground not overly disappointed. Yes we conceded 44 points, but at half time I felt we were tattoo in he game. We were sloppy at marker on a couple of occasions and Rob Burrow exploited it. I thought that had Bibby's try been awarded (as it should have been) at 12-6 potentially 12-8 with the kick we would have been back in the wrestle. 2nd half we lost the ruck. Leeds were had more quick play the balls leaving Burrow and Parcell to take easy metres and exploit the space around the ruck. We weren't at our best yesterday, but we were nowhere near our worst as some people are suggesting. Players out of position, Junior injured his ribs early on but we had no-one to replace him. Vatuvei went off concussed and we ended up with Sau on the wing, J Walne and BMM in the centres. Add to that Leeds played very well and were able to pick from a fully fit squad. If people listened to Ian Watson's interviews with The Devil In The Detail over the last few weeks you'd have heard him admit that he front loaded the season in order to make sure we were nowhere near the middle 8's and the million pound game again. Top teams like Wigan, Leeds and Saints and Hull are able to back load, knowing that they've got the quality to get into the top 8's. Cas being the anomaly and being consistently good all season. Its no coincidence that most of Wigans injuries were at the start of the season, players were sent for their operations so that they were fit for the back end instead of patching up until the end of the season and having the ops then. Personally I think we need another couple of years front leading our season so that we are consistently in the top 8's before we can think about putting together a challenge in the play offs. All in all, I think we have made massive strides forward this season in comparison to previous years. A lot of people will complain about the end of the season but we are moving in the right direction.

Good to hear red89, basically we seem a beaten up team of limited resources. And sadly Todd C never came off.
I think the current play off system, as Betts says, is not the answer. Leigh last year and Hull kr this have been able to keep their players fit playing easy games towards the end ( and losing games to get an easier draw) whilst lower SL team players have been hammered each week.
I hate to think what would have happened if we had been in the fight for the £1M game this year.
