What is it with our fans and Todd Carney. Thought it was a bad move when he signed and he has done nothing to change this. Catalans were happy to get rid and there were not a lot of clubs vying for his signature. How many of his passes have you seen fly into touch, how many tries has he made or even actually scored. He would still be crap with a full season under his belt and his recent run in the team has been totally unforgettable. Get rid and bring in a back who actually wants to play for the club. I don't think it's anything about his desire to play, his attitude has been good as far as I'm aware. I just think he's lost his spark. It's not worked, it's not been terrible we've seen much worse at Salford but he hasn't been good enough unfortunately.

Must be on a fair wedge and he's played single fiddle to Lui and Dobbo all year. I think the money would be more wisely spent on a top quality centre that can create some space for his winger.

I think the money would be better spent on free beer for all at the AJB. TC had talent. We've seen glimpses, no more than that! Waste of money.

Well I'm a big Carney fan, in the past he's been brilliant BUT sadly not anymore.
He's now match fit, he knows the plays but he's not doing it. He should be leading everything, bossing the match, and showing the younger players the way. I agree with Schofield in LE he's had his day. He should be the leader on the field and, with his pedigree, the captain.
So, sadly, it never came off. We needed 3 good halves to take account of injuries and we'll need 3 next year but, for me, with Dobson going we'll have to bring in two more because Carney's either not up to it or not interested. I'd have hoped he'd have showed that Aussie fighting spirit as Dobson did but sadly not.
I think I'd even play Wood or O'Brien in the next two matches.

Reports today suggest he has been offered a new deal to stay not that his legal battle with the Sharks has been settled.
With Dobson going we need a high quality scrum half and I'd love it to be TC as for me on his day he should be untouchable in SL, what I would love to see is a few plays developed that revolve around him as non seem to have been used, think his kicking game would be invaluable.
I don't know though if can get back to the heady days of his NRL form.
If he stays I have the feeling he would be an asset next year and be someone a Patton would learn a great deal from if he comes.

I think he'll end up at Newcastle tbh. Although, if he does stay, I have a feeling that he'll be a different prospect. The court case that was hanging around all season, which involved not only significant amounts of money but his ability to even play the game in Oz again, must have weighed heavy on him. Quite tough to mentally juggle stressful areas of your life and try to get your head right on the pitch. Patchy appearances and no pre-season hasn't helped, and when he has had the opportunity to prove himself he's generally fell short. He's not been awful though, just not stand-out.
It's a big gamble for us if he stays to make a go of it, but I think he's capable.
If he was to stay, it would benefit the team if Watson played less structured, and gave more responsibility to Carney who plays best off the cuff. Dobson was a manager, who played structured and made the team that way. Carney's ability is to be allowed leeway on the pitch and let him exploit the areas he sees during the game. Is Watson willing to let go of some of that structured play in favour of getting the most out of his HB? Where does that leave Lui?

The problem with Lui and Carney is that they seem too much alike. I think we need a gritty, running, organising scrum half in the Sammut mould.
I do agree that if he stayed we'd have to change the way we played but sadly i've not seen enough of the old him this year and he does seem a bit injury prone. It could be that his mind is elsewhere but to me he's too big a chance. But I'd love to be proved wrong.
I would like to see him really get hold of a game and run it aka he Warrington match.

I've not yet seen any evidence that he can gel with Lui. Given that we've known that Dobbo has been going since before this season started I would have hoped that we had a better option in the frame.

The court case has only been settled this week and Salford waited until it was concluded before opening talks with him (oddly professional that for me), I don't know where this sudden interest in Sammut comes from, he's been tried at SL level and didn't make the grade and has for me found his level in a slightly lower league.
I think Are Kyd is right to an extent that it must surely have had an effect on him with such large figures being involved and his potential playing future (think any of us if we were honest and in the same situation we would not be at our best). I do totally agree that he is at his best when given a free hand, when he played so well against Warrington and to a lesser extent Wigan in the CC it was playing a more attacking less structured game.
I do think this is a superfluous argument as I expect him to head back to the NRL and get back to his old ways.

Again against Wakefield and another pass thrown into touch. Nothing from him in attack and his supposed superior kicking game was awful. You cant polish a turd as they say and we have signed a turd. Back to Oz please or anywhere else but our club. Taxi for Carney.
