I want to add some balance to the views of others, and reporting of " the incident " at the end of the game. I was stood next to the lad who was extremely upset by the match referees performance. I do not condone or excuse what he did. He shouted some abuse at Mr Child's and threw some water at him,no more no less. He was told by another fan to go and leave, which he tried to do,but was blocked by a female steward. The CEO saw the incident, and mouthed to the steward to get him out. She insisted on preventing him from leaving and as a result they both fell to the ground as a result of him trying to push past her. The lad tried to leave again, but was then accused by her of assault. I was amazed to read that the club had people who were distressed as a result of witnessing the incident. As I said I do not condone what the lad did,but it really was a a problem that should have been resolved by a large dose of common sense by the steward. Before anyone comments,I do not know any of the people involved and have no axe to grind.

I didn't see it because I left a minute before. I did see a guy stood up having a rant at Childs as he was walking off at half-time.

Est'l agree with you. I saw it. It seemed total over- reaction. They should have got hold of him, taken him to the ref, apologise. Common sense, job done.
Everything has to be a drama and over reaction these days.
We all do stupid things and that's all it was. All the hype by the club, totally unnecessary. Drama, crisis!

That was my first reaction but with the club dealing with it swiftly and firmly, I think this could prevent the RFL taking a more serious stance against the club after previous crowd incidents.

RFL are now involved. Mountains and molehills.

The punishment always falls on the clubs in these situations. What more can a club do other than get character references for people attending?

You can't blame the club to be honest. We've been in trouble for crowd incidents already and I don't think it will take much for the RFL to make an example of us once again if it keeps happening. An overreaction it may seem, but if as an individual you struggle to keep your emotions in check and do something socially unacceptable as a result, then you need to re-evaluate your priorities. We all get upset, the difference is that most of us can control the urge to be a bell-end. If you can't, you need to sort your life out.

Forgot all about this but chatted the week after with one of the head stewards and he said yes the lad was a bit of a knob but that it was all over exaggerated by others.
He pointed out who it was though and think he has learning difficulties but then drinks like a fish, easy to spot so we'll see if the bluster about banning these people is just that from the club, bluster.
