Was that points against fellow top 8 teams? Had me a bit baffled Yes, it is. Would have been useful if I'd said that, wouldn't it! Oh well, it's been a long week.......

One more win should hopefully seal a top 4 place, so long as we don't get an absolutely pasting off someone and Wakefield batter someone as well.
I wouldn't like to have to go to Leigh though needing a win - even though they're bottom. Especially with the cup looming the week after, reckon Watson might rest a couple that week?
It makes a nice change dreading games in case we miss the top 4 though, rather than something at the opposite end of the table!

If we beat Leigh on Friday that will mean a 3rd place finish (which as we know even with their current run of poor form we always make a meal of it at the LSV), along with the semi this is an excellent achievement which the players and off field team need applauding for.
Hopefully we get back the likes of Koppy, Flash and Johnson for the semi so that we are more or less at full strength - does any one have a status on these?
If Koppy and Flash aren't back I feel we lake a real leader in the forwards, which could be difficult against a good Wigan pack.

I'd be tempted to rest some of our players; make sure they're 100% healthy for the Semi Final. I'd hazard a guess that Leigh will be doing the same as they prepare for the Middle 8's. It's a nothing game for them.

It's a nothing game for them. I was thinking the same, may be give Olphert a run out. But I also think a win on Friday is a must going into the semi, playing Wigan off the back of 3 loses wouldn't be favourable. It could also potentially result in us being down in 5th place going into the 8s and losing home tie advantage.

There is a bit more at stake next weekend than just one game. If we lose at Leigh and Hull beat Huddersfield at home and Wakey beat Saints at home, we finish 5th and only get 3 home games in the super 8s instead of 4 home games if we finish 4th. Surely we should be striving for the extra home game? However, if you think the extra home game is not as important as the semi-final, then resting players is a good option. A bit of careful judgement is needed. We don't want to lose at Leigh, but some of our guys need a rest. That last minute drop goal at Saints is hurting, as is that disgraceful forward pass at Leeds!
edit: I see Astleyred just beat me to extra home game point.

From what I gather Leigh are better off not winning on Friday, there's a chance of avoiding playing Catalan away in the play offs if they do.

If the club has any spare money, it would be better investing in a Ouija board and seeing if they could contact Peter Deakin.

3rd | Salford | 101 | 26 | 4th | Wakefield | 91 | 26 | 5th | Hull FC | 54 | 25 |
Hull FC vs. Huddersfield (Fri) Leigh vs. Salford (Fri) Wakefield vs. St Helens (Sun) Only 10 points difference between us and Wakefield. Wakefield will also know what they need to do on Sunday. What if Salford and Wakefield both win and finish on the same points difference?
Points percentage comes into play. This is calculated as: (points for รท points against) * 100. At present: Salford = 121.26 Wakefield = 119.57 If this number is level, then most tries comes into play: Salford = 100 Wakefield = 95 If this number is level, then most goals comes into play: Wakefield = 88 Salford = 85 If this number is level, then most drop goals comes into play: Salford = 2 Wakefield = 0 If this number is level, then a coin toss decides the higher ranked team!

Tbh I can see Saints winning on Sunday but, as you say, Wakey go into that game with a full idea of what is needed. The best Saints can get to is 5th (allowing for the idiots attending the Cas match not costing us a points deduction). I expect Hull to beat Huddersfield but if the Dewsbury Scottish half-back is on form, he might dent Hull's chance. They are worthy of 4th and will try to overcome that person's potential game-winning kicking. So we cannot depend on others slipping up: quite simply we need to win (and by a lot) without giving away many penalties. Interesting, Chico, that they will use the old points percentage (which I am aged enough to remember in soccer). Yet the table on RL official site uses points difference! www.rugby-league.com/superleague/tables
