A bar in Lanzarote where I tried to make the whole bar Salford fans, we won and in truth I think I did everyone's head in! For the semi final this year (sadly), I am going to a festival (Kendal calling) so I have managed to "borrow" someone's caravan that has a tv!

A mate of mine found a bar in Auckland for the CC QF against Wakey who opened at the crack of dawn for him, the staff got well involved apparently spreading the good word of Salford.
For me live any of the France trips, Narbonne (nout exciting) and not much more exciting on TV a bar in Magaluf in the aptly named Lancashire bar (who had a few RL shirts on the walls) and the Isle of Mann was probably the strangest place, a grotty boozer in Douglas the locals were mesmerised (which doesn't take much as they'd only just recently discovered the earth was round) think it was Wakey away on Sky the year we got relegated 2002

Sad our dearly departed friend isn't around to interject, he'd love the newly discovered theory that the edge of the world is guarded by fierce men with red hair or smaller ones in skirts

That Island is one weird little place, it's like The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan

Was on holiday a couple of weeks ago in Montenegro. Well planned as we were at home in the Quarter Final of the Cup to Wakey. The owner of the apartment picked myself and the lady wife up from the airport on the wednesday so I asked where in Tivat they would have Sky Sports on. Getting my priorities in place right from the start! He said that occasionally they had the odd Football game on but he didn't think I'd get the Rugby on. When we arrived at the apartment he gave us the key and asked me to follow him to a cafe bar downstairs that wasn't yet open. Lo and behold he had a "Dodgy Box" which we managed to get Sky Sports UK on. Next day he came from his house where he was attending a Birthday party, brought the box up to my Room and set it up. Top man all round. So I managed to watch the Quarter final in Montenegro. Anyone else got any stories of travelling and managing to catch a game? A follow up to this tale. The Owner of the apartment started watching some of the game with us and asked me if anyone was there? That's because there was lots of action showing the backdrop of the totally empty East Stand. This is the worst PR for our great club and should be looked at! On a positive note I'm pleased to see some exotic places in the list of viewing locations for our great club

Brisbane. Went to visit my brother in law and got to his place just in time to see us kick off against Wakefield (2012). We lost. I have other good sporting memories of my three week stay though. Went to the Suncorp to watch the A league grand final and also the Broncos v Gold Coast and saw the run in leading up to Aguerooo ( was back home for that). Watching the derby at five o'clock in the morning in the Pig and Whistle with no alcohol was a bit nerve-wracking.

Zanzibar and Sri Lanka are probably the furthest away I was.
Oddly in Sri Lanka there was an Indian sports channel that was mostly Cricket (as you would expect) interspersed with Aussie rules and the odd random Superleague game, in this case it was the Hull away game that wasn't even the Sky covered one.
The Sri Lankan barmen were a bit confused by the game itself but they loved it by the time I had drunkenly educated them, and were hardened Salford fans by the end of it.

Most places in Europe but a couple that stand out, firstly in Malta a few years ago we were at Mehialla Bay and the Thomson Team said that the closest place that we could watch it was in Bugibba, but when we checked it out there would be no chance of us getting back to our hotel as there we no buses at night.
On the way back we decided to walk it to Mehialla Bay and just as we got to the vilage of Mehialla we stopped in a little bar for a drink and my wife asked the barman, who turned out to be the owner if they had Sky Sports,he said what do you want to watch,Rugby League we said on Friday night,he replied I will arrange for it to be on for you but be here as soon as you can as it's first come first served.
When we went on the Friday he welcomed us with a free drink and already had the pre match on,we were playing Wakefield and Salford won 30 odd to next to nothing,we went back to the hotel very happy and a lot of locals in Malta were cheering along with us all through the game.I think Karl Harrison was the coach at the time.
The other one is in Menorca in Santo Tomas and every year for the last eight/nine years the girl behind the bar always sets up the TV for the Sky games and this year the TV match was Warrington and some other team, but Salford were at Wigan and the people watching the game were more exited at our reaction to the Salford scores as they were coming through than they were over the Warrington game.
I have fought of football fans,Formula one fans,Tennis fans and Golf fans over the years,it's just a question of getting in front of the TV first.

What a place Sri Lanka is eh? I got married there in 2000. One of the most amazing, blow-your-senses, rollercoaster ride of a country. Everything about the place is an overload for the senses. This is also the place furthest away that I watched Salford, can't remember the game or the result though. I'd love to go back.

Absolutely Carnster, I generally don't like travelling to the same places but Sri Lanka I am already planning a return trip. The people are so nice and genuine, I didn't just feel like i was being treated like a walking wallet. Food was amazing, beaches and sea were picture perfect. However my favourite bit (aside from playing fetch with a baby elephant) was the driving over there, they clearly believe heavily in reincarnation as the style is just bat-sh*t mental, but it totally works. Forget alton towers, Sri lankan tuk tuks is where its at.

The elephant orphanage is also well worth your time and effort to reach. The people are lovely, the food fantastic, and the you never get bored of seeing elephants wandering around and monkeys lounging in the trees.
