Just got back from the game. Can't quite believe what he did! If he takes the tackle, it ends in a draw.

If the come back boot would have been on our tootsie he might have been justified to try that but it was backs to the wall stuff.
ERGO it was foolish.
That was Salford pre 2017, headless chickens in the last 8 minutes chasing (and trying to tackle) their own shadows.
There can be no other performances like that or it WILL derail everything that has gone before this season, while it might have gone well so far in truth there is nothing but promise, FFS Salford don't make them hollow promises.

Not going to go all "dixon13", but that's 3 league defeats in a row got to ensure we get back to winning ways against Huddersfield next week.
You could say this seasons goals have been accomplished top 8 finish and semi final CC, but it'd be awfully disappointing if we bombed now. There are no easy games left to play now just need to rally and stay focussed.
In IW we trust.

Having watched the replay on Sky I can see what Lui was thinking, he had Evalds running through and was chipping over for him. I couldn't see who he was kicking for when i was there. But given how many saints players were there I don't understand how he thought it was going to work. I am glad Lui didn't want to accept the draw in a game we should have won. I am glad he tried to do something to win the game. I am disappointed in the way he executed that just as i am disappointed we lost all our defensive shape in the last 7 minutes. I think to blame one player who was beating himself up at the end far more than he deserved to after his game is really out of order. He was the best player on the pitch until that moment. There are one or two other players who need to look at themselves far more but it's not about individuals, it's about the team. We got into the winning position as a team and we lost it as a team. It is a really tough one to take and I feel as sick this morning as I did last night. I hope this is the kick up the ass the players need. i think they thought they'd won it and relaxed a bit and then couldn't stop saints once they got on a roll. Watson's got a job to do now to pick the players up for next week and we have a job to do to help

I am glad Lui didn't want to accept the draw in a game we should have won. I am glad he tried to do something to win the game. That's what I've been thinking as well. It just backfired in literally the worst possible way! Hopefully we can learn from it, take it as a kick up the backside, and get back to winning ways against Huddersfield next week. It won't be easy, but to be honest there's no easy games in Super League anymore.

As has been said Lui was MOM last night, had it worked and Evalds gone to score we'd all be saying what a genius he was. In a game like that it was worth the gamble. Yes we're all gutted but we're still the right end of the league and 80 minutes from Wembley. From where we were in October we've come a long way but still on that learning curve. 2 games ago I said I'd take 3 wins out of the last 6 with the way other teams are getting players back. I think 3 out of the next 4 are winnable. The danger for me is if we do Leeds, they'll be after revenge at Wembley

For me Rob Lui was MOM last night and I don't think personally that was the correct thing to do but he shouldn't be singled out for that poor play selection. We created the position to win as a team and blew it as a team. Taking the positive at least we went to St Helens and nearly won. Yes we've lost three league games on the bounce and should have won two of them. We've progressed really well as a team the next step is to improve our game management.
Also let's look forward to a CC semi final.

Salford at present don't have that winning mentality that all top teams have, it's still a shock to us and them when we are beating one of the so called big teams. This will come and with the addition of players to a already decent team we will finish teams off.

Basically lacking speed and movement through the backs. But this is work in progress. Cas have built in a similar way to us but are a couple of years ahead. They also have speed.
We need a class centre and winger next year but we're moving in the right direction. Rome and day spring to mind.

I wasn't slating Lui it was more tongue in cheek.
It was unwise at best, fool hardy if we are all honest, that said MOM by a mile.
The tactics we used were so obvious last night, BMM is being nailed the second he gets the ball and people are aware that Bibby looks fragile in defence (and think someone says he does the same job as Carney, rubbish good as he is he doesn't skittle the defence make the same hard yards) and much as he is one for the future and a burgeoning talent if he plays in the semi/final he will be a turn style, Hasson just should be sent back to Oz as he offers nothing in attack and spends most of the game moaning to the ref.
Positives Evalds is rock solid under the high ball, that Saints kept peppering him was odd as he just dealt with them all, Carney when he kicks looks so much more dangerous than Dobson or Lui and think we have seen a new strong to the JJ bow as he didn't look out of place in the front row.

What have I got to do with it.You can put what ever colour gloss you want on last night,to be 24 to 8 up with eight minutes to go and loose is diabolical. I will agree we would have took this position at the start of the season, but we are still along way from honours in my opinion but it would be great to be proved wrong. We need three big forwards and a center also a winger.I hope Watson gets the money to get them.

Of course I was being tongue in cheek.
It was unacceptable to lose such a lead with 7 mins left on the clock. Watching the replay back you could see what Lui was trying to do but wasn't really the best option, hindsight and all.
I for one think this team has over achieved to a level this year and as I stated I think this seasons mission has been accomplished anything more is a bonus.
I also agree we need at least 4 players to come in to compliment what we have.

Fellow Reds,
I understand and empathise with all of our disappointment at the games we have lost when we should have come away with a win, we all hate losing, me included and yet our current position is in stark contrast to the pessimistic views of many on this forum at the start of the season who thought we were doomed for an unstatisfactory season. And that begs the question why are we doing far better than we thought at he beginning of this campaign, and here are my thoughts:
Teams take time to develop and so do the individuals in them. For the first time in recent history we have the same nucleus of a team continuing into this, their second season together. The fact that this team and it's individuals has/have developed beyond our expectations gives us hope. Next season the individuals in the team will further develop, even the ones that we don't rate today. Ian Watson knows what he is doing and I am confident that he also knows who are capable of stepping up to a higher level, those that are not, who he will move on. I think that we will be pleasantly surprised how much the likes of Lannon, Wayne, Murray, Johnson, Tomkins, Bibby, Wood, Brinning et al will be better next season- experience is invaluable.
Do we need another 3 or 4 star players? I would say no we don't. We need to be patient with the players that have broken through this season. What we need is to stay within salary cap, keep our heads down in the faith that we are going in the right direction and that stability within the club sends out an unnerving message to the opposition.
