Josh Griffin does have a habit of coming up out of the line, which is fine if you time it right, he just never seems to time it right. Of course, he makes up for it in other areas, but I would like him to work on this aspect of the game.
I know in the Q&A he said he wasn't looking forward to it but really would like to see him in the pack, big enough and can you imagine the damage he could do running out wide.
Didn't realise at the game just how shocking our right edge defence was, couple of the KR tries should just not have been scored. Pretty sure a team like Cas will spot this and target that side, just hope that Vidot helps sure things up.
Do you mean the side Evalds was playing on? Is that not our left? (Genuine question - not sure if you do it from the defender or attacker PoV)
Either way, they did look disorganised on that side. Was surprised by Evalds in particular. He missed a couple I expected him to get. To be fair there were a lot of changes on both sides with Carney on and off, J Griffin went off and came back on, then swapped sides and then onto wing when clearly not fit with Evalds in centre which isn't really his position, Jones moved to centre then went off njured. One of their tries was straight after Tomkins was sin binned before we'd reorganised
Hopefully it isn't structural though, just the result of the changes we were forced to make. I do think we've struggled on both edges at times this season, teams often targeting Sau and Carney. It's hard to know, often it looks like the edges where tries are scored but it's because the other team has got a roll on up the middle and the edges are disorganised when it's moved out there
all that said I thought both teams lacked intensity in defence yesterday - how many times did the inside ball from Dobson to GOB work for us?
I thought Dobson was outstanding yesterday, his tackling was v impressive and he organised us and was involved in just about every try. Thought Evalds finished his try very well too. Enjoyed it overall ?
It was the right edge going forward, granted we had to reshuffle a reshuffle a couple of times and we had people on the pitch who were shot to pieces, I don't think that Sau and Carney are that bad defensively and what they bring in attack more than makes up for the defensive frailties, looking forward to seeing Vidot on the other side immensely.
Dobson is the main man for me, Liu will get all the plaudits but Dobson is the one who makes it all tick.
Funny you say that about Evalds, was having a conversation with someone at the game and we both agreed that Evalds had the speed and size to be a decent centre, it is nice when we have the likes of Johnson, MCB and Vidot out injured and someone of the pedigree of Evalds waiting in the wings, the trick will be keeping them all happy when everyone is fit.
