Carney or Lui in the 17,not both. That tactic simply hasn't worked . Leaves us a forward short and, when both and Dobson are on the pitch at the same time, our mid field is weakened purely due to power and strength. When Carney has started, like at Wire,he played really well but ,as a sub,it's different. The theory is ok,that he could change the game when he comes on but ,in practice,it hasn't worked.

Does anyone know if Josh Jones or Lee Mossop are likely be in contention? Same with Hassson and Hauraki? Personally I think Todd Carney needs to start this game, he's a big game player who's played for the Aussies and in State of Origin games I will be extremely disappointed to see him on the bench come Thursday. We need to start f**king quick against Wakefield!!
I'd go with.....(Dependent on availability)
O'Brien (Although he need a massive kick up the arse after his last two performances). Johnson Welham Sa'u Bibby Lui Carney Tasi Dobson Griffin BMM Jones Flanagan
Brining Koppy Hasson/Lannon Krasniqi/Hauraki (Doubtful with shoulder injury)

14.Brining 15.Tasi 16.Krasniqi 17.Lannon
Evalds - his defence is poor and in a cup tie everyone lifts their effort we cannot afford defensive liabilities. Lui has looked jaded, Carney injects pace through his passing and running. He reads the game quicker and was one of the few bright lights against Hull. I'm also in the camp that says you don't go with only 2 forwards on the bench. I thought we ran out of a bit of gas against Wakefield. If we'd have gone with the same set up against Hull then the concussion Hasson suffered would have left us with one forward on the bench. We cannot risk that in a cup tie. I would have had Hasson on the bench instead of Lannon but have assumed that he will be out under the concussion rules.
Kopczak has to start for me because he is a leader. The last couple of games we've looked a bit short of leadership during our slump. The loss of Mossop for both his ability and experience has started to tell.

The last two games have been a wake up call and I fully expect the real Salford Red Devils to run out on Thursday night.
On Thursday we need to start well in my opinion and for me Tomkins, Kopczak and Carney should start.
I would also like to see Evalds back at full-back.
In the last game against Wakefield I thought we were out-coached on the day.
Saying that this time we must stop them getting the ball wide right from the first minute.
Also there are no 2 points up for grabs just a place in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup - NO MOTIVATION NEEDED!
Here's hoping for a real cup tie and no messing about HIT THEM HARD AND GET THE JOB DONE.

Have to agree with Evalds his the best fullback we have.I don't think Watson agrees

Starting to get nervous about tonight. Huge game, couldn't even consider a semi final appearance at the start of the season, it would be absolutely massive. Come on solly!!

I'm finding it hard to concentrate on anything else today. I just hope it doesn't go down to golden point or the last 5 minutes of the game. I'd prefer it if we were 50 points up (or down!) by half time!

Just a shame it's staying dry, wet weather would have turned it into a forwards battle which would have played in to our hands.
It is all about stopping our two former wingers tonight, can't see it unfortunately but as Gadger says wouldn't have thought we'd get this far anyway so anything is a bonus this season

Massive game tonight so as fans let's make sure that we leave nothing behind - from 1st minute to last we need to be giving 100% backing and be as loud as we can be. If Watto makes sure that the lads do the same and can walk off tonight knowing that each and every one has given their all then I am confident we will be heading for the semi final! A good 5 mins of Bring on the Salford would be a great way to start. Wembley here we come.
