Eddie Waring was kept on by the BBC long after his dementia had set in, and that was reflected in his commentaries. I'd hate to think Ray French was being treated the same way. It may be comedy rubbish, but there's a disturbing hint of deja vu about it. I thought the same thing when listening.

The ones I got were "Burdock Massila", Robert Loo-Eye, Brian O'Brien, Luke Patton and Brian Atkins. Unbelievable. And we wonder why our game appears to lack credibility. Last time I saw Ray french was when I went to watch a young neighbour of mine playing RU for the school about twenty odd years ago. And he didn't have a clue what was going on then. It really is a shame for the poor old bugger.

I've only just seen this thread today and I agree it has a worrying look of of Eddie Waring about it in all the worst ways. But have the Beeb ever worried about the quality of their RL productions?
