I think the team's looked a bit jaded over the past few games but there are 4 forwards to come back and Todd Carney to get in the fray.
2 games this weekend will need some of the back- up strength and Carney should at least get one game, Lui looked to be struggling a bit yesterday. If a fit Carney is anything like he can be, then bringing him in late in the season could be a master stroke.

The last 2 games now we've had to come from behind. Shows great self belief in the team but we can't afford to be giving too many other teams 6-12 point starts. One thing that stood out for me so far is how we keep a cool head when calls go against us. Everyone just seems to accept it and carry on. Great character shown. This has to be one of the messages this week to the team from Watto. Must start better.

Well the Catalan coach has just been sacked, so that's a start!

Well the Catalan coach has just been sacked, so that's a start! That's just made the task a lot harder. How often in sport do you see a big response when a Manager/Coach is fired?

A win this week and there's a very good chance we open up a gap on the rest of the pack, Cas will hammer Widnes, can Warrington turning Leeds over and Saints beating Wigan.

Not given him enough credit before but Welham is a classy centre in the Gleeson style, not a bullocking type that seems to be the norm now but a throwback to centres who use guile more. I thought Welham was just going to be a solid squad player for us when his signing was announced, happy to say that I was seriously underestimating him. He's only got better as we've played more games & built a great partnership with Greg Johnson.

Gregs having a brilliant season and I think has benefited from getting decent service from his centre this year.

We didn't play great but I always thought we would win the game even when Leigh were ahead, BMM is a class player and absolutely flying another 2 points won lets hope it continues.
Whats happening with Todd Carney? Is he staying/going? Injured/fit??

Thought we won ugly. Again. The team has been a bit out of sorts since the Toronto game. Could be fatigue and injuries taking a toll, but for all that we've still been winning. That says a lot about this particular Salford side compared to any previously that I've seen. Hopefully we'll get a bit of energy in the tank again this week and step up a gear against Catalans as I think we'll need to. You can see the difference between us and Cas in this respect...Cas always play 100%. Always ruthless. Always energised. We lack that ability yet, but I agree with redluca in that I never thought we would lose the game. Which has to count as something while watching a Salford side.
Catalan still don't travel well and they'll probably be without a replacement coach until after this game, so I'm hoping that our strong home performances continue this week.

One of the big differences for me this year is how we manage to control the ruck speed in defense. Very few quick play the balls against us, yet also very few penalties for lying on. I wonder how much Silverwood has had to do with that?

I wonder how much Silverwood has had to do with that? I was studying this yesterday. Our players are very effective at getting numbers in the tackle and putting opponents on their backs. They also seem very astute and knowing just the precise moment to let their opponents regain their feet. (Without the ref blowing for a penalty) There will always be the odd one where players get tangled up but on the whole we've got a lot smarter at this. It was a wise move employing a former referee and i can only imagine that he studies each referee in detail and passes on invaluable information to the coaches and players. Let's face it he knows just how they think and how they interpret things.

I know Wigan have been doing this for years, they have their players doing "wrestling sessions" where they practice putting the player on their back then retreating quickly. I didn't get to Newcastle this year and fancy it next but can anyone tell me if it's ok for families as I've heard some contrasting stories..

I accept it's not groundbreaking it's just that we seem to have got better at it.
