Dr K has raised a valid point tonight on Twitter.
How many times have the ex MPs or the mayor of Salford went and watched a game of rugby? It appears with elections coming up they are keen to attend fans meetings, but how many have actually been at a game? Are any of our 2 MPs or the mayor a ST holder or have they just jumped on a bandwagon to get votes?
MK is suggesting that none of those (suddenly) taking an interest have ever been to a game despite having been invited as a VIP.

Junp off your high horse!
Just because they don't attend matches doesn't mean they want their city to lose it's only (current) professional sports team, that also happen to owe the council a significant amount of money.
They may have no interest in rugby league at all but they certainly do have a vested interest in the city of Salford's assets, even those they don't own.

Do we feel the need to ask the mayor etc if they are season ticket holders when we are begging the council for yet another loan? I thought not.

That is 100% not a valid point from Koukash. MPs act and speak on behalf of their constituents and he currently owes the council £1.5m so the mayor's got a wee bit of an interest too.

Come on dixon13, you need to explain why, otherwise you're just rubbishing an opinion and lowering the tone. I'm saying this with my Moderator cap on by the way, so don't take it personal.

I remember being told that in 1969 when we played Castleford in the CC Final that some councillors who never attended a game at the Willows expected a VIP invite for Wembley. A good example is the former strategic director of Salford City Council who refused many invites to the Willows saying he didn't like rugby. Then a few years later he became our CEO and took to social media to have a go at the Salford public for not getting behind the club.

Slightly ironic of Ian Blease to re-tweet it, and continue to have a go at stay away fans. Remind me Ian, where are you from? And how many games have you been to over the years since retiring? Suddenly he's in 'power' and he's taking pops. People in glass house.

It's a shame that more former players don't attend games. You see a few every now and then but not many.

If somebody has a problem they sometimes seek help from a councilor on MP Give the girl a chance, she was their because she was invited I presume and she was welcome. She does not have to be a fan.Their are councilors who go.Koccash gets wind of a fans meeting about something they care about and all he can do is go on about the local MP in attendance. When what he should be doing his to start marketing the club.I did not say the poster was rubbish I said that clowns twitter was rubbish.

Slightly off topic, but can I mention Alan Grice, an unsung player with the great 70s team, who never seems to miss a game and is a genuine fan. We were enticed to buy a book about the club, years ago and were told that many ex players would be in the club to sign said book. Alan was the only ex player to turn up. A great player and a lovely man!
