Win this game and we are through to the Semi Finals of the Challenge Cup. I'd like to think that fans will turn up in their masses for this one. I don't want to appear negative but going off the previous three semi-finals we've struggled to take 4500. So it's unlikely we'll get a bumper gate on a Thursday night for a 1/4 final when it's free to watch on telly. I honestly thought we were going to get a record crowd for the Leigh game on Good Friday but that didn't happen. It's difficult to understand why more people aren't attracted to the AJ Bell at the moment with the team going so well. Perhaps people think our current form is just a flash in the pan and it will all end in tears. Or maybe local sports loving fans don't have as much disposable income these days with ever increasing football prices. I suppose it's different for Wigan, Leeds and Hull they are competing with rubbish football teams. I think you're right on this one. I think we'll always struggle for big crowds because of the reasons you stated. Income for most households is limited, forcing them to prioritise their spending outside of essentials. Football fans that prioritise Utd or City will be spending a large chunk of annual income on tickets/season tickets, which in turn forces their hand when it comes to making a choice in their spare time. It's different for a lot of other clubs that sit in RL communities such as Wigan, Leeds and Hull. While Salford has a deep historical RL connection, it's been quite small for decades and decades and unlikely to grow any time soon. Ironically, switching to a Manchester base is likely to get the club even less fans than it already has. I think if the club can get around the 5-6k mark we'll be doing very well. Whether it's good enough to make financial progress for the club is another topic, and I fear we'll always need a sugar daddy in the modern era.

Think he's talking about star footballers in Wigan, Leeds & Hull Dixon, not rugby players.
