Don't see why that's relavent carnster? nobody is saying they hate Manchester, it's not an anti Manchester thing. United are a global brand, salford (and indeed no rugby club with the exception of the all blacks) ever will be. Salford means so much more to these people. I live in Warrington, and I remember the furore around renaming as "Cheshire cats" or whatever it was back in the early 90s. It's a very emotive thing The point is that people are cherry-picking what they want out of it. If Salford means what you say it does to Salford people then nearly all of them would have migrated to Salford City FC from Man UTD. That's plainly not the case. While I don't think it would make a blind bit of difference and the Club is part of my personal Family history it's at the end of day a change of title. My point here isn't the pros and cons of what may or may not be achieved by it, but the fact that people are overreacting in a massive way in my opinion.

Your team is your team, you don't change it. United is my football team, I am disillusioned with united at the moment in terms of how they treat us fans but I could never support a different team, be that fc united or Salford. But that's just my opinion.
I can see your point to an extent, on the face it may seem petty, but supporting a team often isn't logical. Look at the problems it caused at hull city/tigers a few back.

What worries me is a lot of fans are happy to go along with this delusional man and move to Manchester, good riddance. They can start as a new club if that is the case, they can **** off if they think they're claiming OUR history.

To be clear, I want the Club to stay as Salford, but it will still be my Club if it changes. If people don't want to go out of principle then good luck to them. If there truly is hordes of Salford fans that are not coming then why not? Because they are fickle maybe? They expect the Club to gradually succeed before they decide to bless us with their presence? Then as soon as we have a bad couple of games they'll be gone again citing 'Same old Salford'? I don't want the change either and can't see what it'll achieve, but if the Salford public really gave a damn they'd roll up right now and support the team. After all, none of these rumours would even have to be entertained if these fans actually bothered to make an appearance.

but the people of Salford who aren't coming now aren't doing so because of the name. Ditto people of the outside areas. They aren't coming because if the years of shite rugby, false promises, limited marketing and recently fiasco after fiasco.
It's like using a hammer to crack a nut, without first trying to use other much more suitable instruments.
I not any of my family will go anymore if this happens, and some of those people are from Manchester.

They certainly wont come if they rename to Manchester, but they are not coming in now either. Maybe the Club has given up on Salford like Salford has given up on them? We have to remember that this is all just rumours at the moment to!

Maybe the Club has given up on Salford... Judging by the tone of Koukash and Blease's tweeting I think you're probably right, but I'm willing to bet they're in for a very rude awakening when this Manchester thing happens. Whatever they rename it, rugby league's a minority sport and they'd do well to have a look at how many punters are turning up to see the Manchester Giants and the Manchester Storm these days. Not wanting to come over all 'opposition fans on the Turkey', but this will have gone tits up and Marwan walked by 2022.

I agree with Carnstar on this. Personally think that attendances will be as bad in Gorton as they are currently but I will still go as I love the stuff Watto is delivering. Not sure what the situation would be with the Lease nor the CVA ramifications - if any - The Scholes Family won`t be coming if Twitter is to be believed and a few other diehards but basically its a question of `he who pays the piper calls the tune`. I am more concerned about the extremely remote possibility of us being Bradford Northern Red Devils as being mooted in Yorkshire by some. I won`t be going there though should that arise.

It's hardly just the scholes family or a few who won't go, my rough estimate would be north of 60%
Each to their own as you say, but I won't be going.
