Without O'Brien or Evalds in the team, who will be at fullback? I'm guessing it will be Todd Carney.

Think we've seen the last of Evalds in a red shirt, pity but I bow to the knowledge of the coaching staff.
Think Carney could easily do the same job as GOD at #1, what does worry me is that Ah Van could run riot on the wing without the physical presence of Sa'u & Carney to hammer him.

I just don't get what has gone on with Niall.😕 He's plenty good enough to be in the 17 every week as his versatility is unmatched within the squad. I'd argue he could cover every position in the team except prop and SR (LF may be pushing it)!! Can only think that some sort of falling out has happened between him and the coaching staff. Would be criminal if he left.
As for the FB position... didn't Johnson have a game or 2 there for us a while ago? I know he's dodgy under the high ball but his kick returns would be a sight to behold.😊 (and no, I'm not seriously suggesting we play him there!)

Thanks Toronto for the high shots.
Yes, I fear Ah Van unless Jonesy gets stuck in.

Carney Bibby Sau Whelham Johnson Lui Dobson Tasi Tomkins Mossop Murdoch Masila Jones Flanagan Brining Kopzcak Walne Griffin Unless the 19 man squad is fake news (not unheard of), Junior isn't playing. In fact, someone with a very similar name to yours was telling people that on Total RL a couple of days ago. So, Jones into the centre I think, with George Griffin in the second row.

It's those high kicks to the corner that worry me the most. I honestly don't rate Ah Van he's just a big lump but he's tall and he always causes us problems on the kicks. We haven't got the tallest backline and I'd be surprised if any of them are over 5'10/5'11.
Edit: I take it back... Welham and Jones are both 6ft apparently. We must just be sh1te at jumping for the ball!!

Have been told by the coaching staff, that, Evalds won't listen, does his own stuff. So not fitting in to the culture of the team. A great shame really as he has that knack of popping up at the right place at the right time. Lui has filled in at fullback a few times but Todd can play there as well. we shall see on sunday

No way on this earth is Lui a FB, TC played at 1 for Roosters (that's the Sydney side not the Eccles one).
I'd go with;
Carney Bibby Jones Whelham Johnson Lui Dobson Tasi Tomkins Mossop Murdoch Masila Griffin Flanagan
Brining Kopzcak Walne Krasniqi
With regards to Evalds the coaches are there for a reason to make these decisions and as much as a talent I / we think he is, tbh off the the couple of displays this year I wouldn't have him in before any of that 19 bar maybe Bibby, you could also argue Carney but his wage / class alone whether right or wrong put him above in the pecking order.

I'm inclined to agree RE Evalds. He hasn't played much this year but when he played left centre against Wakefield his defensive weaknesses were exposed. He's much better as a winger, but hopefully Bibby can step up on Sunday and repay the faith shown in him with his new contract. Watto obviously sees some potential there.

I think we'll be okay.
Our forwards should dominate as pound for pound they are simply better forwards. Their backs could be dangerous but that is dependent on a platform being laid for them, and I can't see our pack rolling over and letting them have free run of the show. Of course, if it becomes an arm wrestle in the forwards the game could change, I just can't see it personally. Dobson, Lui, Brining/Tomkins and Carney is still a very very strong spine. Welham and Johnson have done nothing wrong, and Bibby will feel confident with the power of Jones inside him. (Sounded a bit off that.) With us being strong at home I think we'll do okay with this game. While Widnes have improved lately they are still bottom for a reason.

This game is massive for us. Win it and we'll be looking upwards and Widnes will find if hard to escape the bottom four. Lose it and we may be looking over our shoulder a bit. Hopefully the halves will produce a good kicking game and we can control the ruck.
